After imposing a 100GB Fair Usage Policy (FUP) on its monthly unlimited pass for its Unifi Mobile #Bebas prepaid plan in December 2022, Telekom Malaysia (TM) is going to reduce its FUP and monthly hotspot quota further starting next week.

According to the latest FAQ, TM is reducing the FUP for its monthly unlimited pass from 100GB to 60GB (40% reduction) and this FUP will be applicable for both 4G and 5G data usage combined. The previous 100GB FUP introduced in December 2022 was only applicable for 4G usage but starting next week, users could only enjoy 5G at uncapped speeds up to 60GB per month.

In addition, the current hotspot quota of 10GB for 4G will be reduced to just 5GB per month for both 4G and 5G. Once you’ve used up your hotspot quota, you will not be able to use it until you buy additional data pass available in the Unifi Mobile Prepaid app.

In terms of speed, Unifi Mobile has imposed a 5Mbps speed cap on its 4G network for unlimited monthly pass users while 5G speed remains uncapped. Once the monthly 60GB FUP is reached, the speed will be reduced to 512kbps.

The monthly “unlimited” pass for Unifi Mobile Prepaid still costs RM35/month and can be activated from their mobile app. These changes will take effect from 12:01am on 9th February 2023.

Besides TM, YTL Communications has recently revised its FT5G prepaid offering which now has a combined 12GB hotspot quota for 4G/5G usage. However, its on-device usage for both 4G and 5G remains unlimited with no FUP.
