America’s Amtrak is trying to put the “rail” in railroad by posting sexy fan art on Twitter

Admittedly, I admire a few admins of social media accounts for corporations, because they understand how the internet works. Rather than posting serious statements and hard selling their products and services, some admins choose to sh*tpost their way to stardom—garnering lots of traction from fellow casual users. This time, America’s Railroad company Amtrak decided to post a spicy “fan art” inspired by the company’s uniform.

“We’re taking fan art into our own hands,” tweeted Amtrak, with a picture of a beefy-looking man in Amtrak’s conductor uniform—in a style familiar to me, who has seen a fair share of fan art online.

The tweet was just posted today, but it has already gotten close to a million views from the time of writing and 4.7 thousand likes. There have also been many reactions from other Twitter users, like Dictionary.com replying to the tweet with the definition of the word “rail“—a top-tier joke response.

There are also several great responses from other accounts:

Amtrak’s Twitter account has always usually been unserious. It pinned the tweet that just says “trains“, and posts tweets like how a millennial would post on Tumblr.

The account however never said that the fan art tweet was a particularly “sexy” tweet—it was just conveyed through implications. And when Twitter users called them out for being “horny on main“, the account actively hides those responses.

Amtrak, or America’s National Railroad Passenger Corporation, is the national passenger railroad company of the country. Amtrak’s longest route is the California Zephyr—which takes you between Chicago and San Francisco, taking over 51 hours.
