Apple has rolled out its iOS 16.3 update to compatible iPhone models which will fix several bugs and security issues. If you’re encountering weird horizontal lines on your iPhone 14 series device, the new update aims to address that issue as well.
If you haven’t received a software update notification, you can update your iPhone to iOS 16.3 manually by going to Settings> General > Software Update. The upgrade is about 500MB in size and it is recommended to download over a WiFi connection.
According to the description, iOS 16.3 brings a new Unity wallpaper to honour Black history and culture in celebration of Black History Month in the US, and it also brings Data Protection for iCloud and Security Keys for Apple ID. iOS 16.3 also patches several WebKit vulnerabilities which include two exploits that could allow the execution of malicious code when viewing specific websites. For devices that are not capable of getting iOS 16 such as the iPhone 7 and 1st gen iPhone SE and below, Apple has also addressed these security exploits by releasing iOS 15.7.3.
Last month, several iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro users reported seeing mysterious green lines on the screen during boot-up or while waking up the device. Apple has confirmed that this isn’t a hardware issue and it will be fixed with iOS 16.3 update. It was reported that the horizontal line issue was more prevalent on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
