Touch ‘n Go is expected to launch its physical eWallet-linked Visa card at any moment now. However, it looks like some users are able to order the card online from the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app. Interestingly, the new card is said to be Malaysia’s first numberless card which is similar to GrabPay’s Mastercard in Singapore and the titanium Apple Card. This should provide greater security as your full card number including expiry and CVV details would be only accessible from the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app.
At the time of writing, we couldn’t find the option to order the Visa card and it should appear as a new option on the home screen. As shown in the shared screenshot, the physical card features a rather abstract painting design with splashes of blue, green and yellow. On the front, there’s Visa and Touch ‘n Go eWallet branding while the rear appears to have a place to print your personalised name. There’s also a chip on the front of the card, so you can pay by chip-and-PIN if a shop doesn’t accept paywave or if the transaction amount is more than RM250.
At the moment, the Visa card appears to be offered for free but you’ll need to pay a RM5.00 delivery fee. The application fee of RM5.00 and the annual fee of RM18.00 are currently waived. If you want one, you’ll have to wait until the “Visa card” option appears in your Touch ‘n Go eWallet app.
As mentioned earlier, the physical card is linked to your eWallet balance and it allows you to spend your eWallet credit wherever Visa card is accepted worldwide. Similar to BigPay, it supports contactless payments and you can also withdraw cash at the ATM. If you have completed the Touch ‘n Go eWallet’s eKYC process and opt for the premium tier, you can have a maximum eWallet size of RM20,000.
Based on details revealed on their FAQ, Touch ‘n Go Visa cardholders can make a cash withdrawal 5 times a day up to RM1,000 each, or up to a daily maximum of RM5,000. Each customer can only apply for one card at a time. Despite having the “Touch ‘n Go” brand, this card won’t work on Touch ‘n Go terminals at highway toll plazas, public transport and car parks.
