[ UPDATE 26/12/2022 20:30 ] Touch ‘n Go Visa Card appears to be available for order for some users. Claims to be Malaysia’s first numberless card.

More than a year after signing a strategic partnership with Visa, Touch ‘n Go has recently confirmed that it will launch its physical Visa prepaid card towards the second half of December 2022. As we are about to enter the final week of the year, a couple of details of the new Visa card have been revealed through their hidden FAQ published two weeks ago.

When we did a little digging using the search bar, it is mentioned that the Touch ‘n Go Visa card will be open for applications from the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app and open to individuals aged 18 years old and above. Users must complete the eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) process and currently reside in Malaysia. Each user is only entitled to one card at a time.

It is stated that the Visa card is a prepaid card that is linked to your Touch ‘n Go eWallet balance. This means you would only need to ensure there’s sufficient balance in the TNG eWallet, similar to BigPay. Take note that the new Visa card won’t work as a “Touch ‘n Go card”, so you can’t use it on Touch ‘n Go card readers.

The physical card works worldwide where Visa card is accepted and it also supports contactless payments via paywave. As expected, users can withdraw cash with a Visa card from an ATM with the Visa Plus network logo. However, there’s a limit of 5 transactions per day at RM1,000 per transaction, up to a daily maximum of RM5,000.

At the moment, there are still no details about the Touch ‘n Go Visa card availability. Could it be released quietly with limited quantities like the Touch ‘n Go Charm Christmas Edition?
