The Honor X9a 5G is set to be Honor’s first smartphone launched in Malaysia next year. Part of the X9 lineup that actually debuted back in March this year, the Honor X9a 5G differentiates itself from the rest of the series by offering not just a curved display, but also an ‘ultra tough’ curved display.
According to Honor, they will be launching the Honor X9a 5G on the 4th of January, 2023 at 7pm, with a live stream for the event on their Facebook page as well as its YouTube channel. They’re also getting people to guess the price of the new Honor X9a 5G, with the winner able to bring home one of the new devices with you. You can enter the contest yourself by heading over to the Honor Malaysia website, with the deadline being 3rd January.
Honor X9a 5G specs
The Honor X9a 5G is set to arrive with a 6.67-inch, FHD+, curved edge OLED display, pushing a 120Hz refresh rate, a 300Hz touch sampling rate and 100% coverage DCI-P3 colour gamut. It is capable of a peak brightness of 800nits, with 1920Hz PWM dimming and the ability to produce 1.07 billion colours.
However, the Honor X9a 5G’s highlight isn’t the screen per se, but rather how tough it is. According to Honor, the display features glass that’s 0.65mm thick, and has survived 33 different drop tests before. They have even begun showing off the Honor X9a 5G being used to smash open walnuts:
Under the hood though things are much more modest, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 system-on-chip mated to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with a further 5GB of virtual RAM also available. It runs Android 12 out of the box with the Magic UI 6.1 skin over it.
As for the cameras, the Honor X9a 5G has a main 64MP camera that’s flanked by a 5MP ultrawide camera along with a 2MP macro lens. You’ll also find a 16MP camera up front for selfies. Keeping the lights on meanwhile is 5,100mAh battery with 40W fast charging. Other features of note include an in-screen fingerprint sensor and support for WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1. The device will be available in Titanium Silver, Emerald Green and Midnight Black colourways.
