With the Christmas holidays approaching, it appears that Touch ‘n Go will be releasing a limited edition Touch ‘n Go Charm. Not only it looks like a pretty accessory, but you can also use it for contactless payment as it works just like the new Enhanced Touch ‘n Go card with NFC functionality.
Touch ‘n Go has started teasing the charm on their Facebook page hinting that it’s coming sometime in December 2022. It was reported that Touch ‘n Go had posted a teaser video of it on TikTok but it was no longer available at the moment.
From the picture, the Touch ‘n Go Christmas Charm comes in a gingerbread man form with an attached keychain loop. It is stated that the Touch ‘n Go Charm has the same function and NFC capability as the enhanced Touch ‘n Go card, which means that you can also reload credit from your Touch ‘n Go eWallet if you’re using an NFC-supported smartphone. With this compact size, this is great for public transport users as you can attach it to your bag or lanyard for easy access.
There’s no pricing at the moment, but we reckon that the Touch ‘n Go Christmas Charm would cost more than the RM10 price for the current Enhanced TNG cards. Since the current TNG Cards with NFC function are highly sought after, we expect the charms to be even harder to find and are likely to be scalped and sold at ridiculous prices.
Before the year is out, Touch ‘n Go has pledged that it will be the first eWallet to introduce stringent security measures imposed by Bank Negara Malaysia to fight scams and fraudulent activities. They have also mentioned that the eWallet-linked Visa card will be introduced later this month.
