We just found out that Xiaomi will be launching their brand new flagship smartphone duo, the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, later this week. But, it looks like you won’t have to wait that long to see what they look like in the flesh because a couple of alleged photos of the device have already made their way onto the internet.
These images come from weibo and claim to be the real-world photos of Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone duo. The first thing you’ll notice is the fact that these two phones appear to adopt a completely different frame structure. With the smaller Xiaomi 13 opting for an iPhone-like squared frame with rounded corners and flat display and back.
In fact, it looks pretty much identical to a modern-day iPhone except for the rear camera module which doesn’t have equal sized camera cutouts, and the much smaller punch hole in the front. The frame looks like a glossy metal that could be stainless steel, while the back looks like it has some kind of matte finish but we don’t know if it’s the rumoured “skin/nano-tech“, or if it’s just a frosted glass back.
The most stark difference though has to be the way the larger Xiaomi 13 Pro looks. This opts for a much more traditional modern-day Android design with the back and front panel that curves around the sides, making the frame really slim on the left and right.
On this phone though, the rear panel looks a lot more like the “skin/nano-tech” material we saw teased on Weibo…but it also looks a little like just vegan leather that we’re already seeing on phones like the Huawei Mate 50 Pro. The camera module looks identical in layout, except for the fact that it’s a little bigger and the glass is black instead of white.
Not a whole lot has leaked about the Xiaomi 13 series yet, but from what was teased, the phone will feature a brand new OLED display with nearly symmetrical bezels all around, with the thinnest point measuring 1.61mm. There’s also IP68 dust and water resistance and Leica co-engineered cameras to boot.
