Oppo is expected to hold its upcoming Inno Day event next month to showcase its latest tech innovations. Last year they introduced a retractable camera system and their first commercial foldable device, the Oppo Find N. For 2022, word has it that Oppo will be introducing not one but two foldable devices under the Find N2 series.
Serial leakster Digital Chat Station had shared on Weibo that the Oppo Find N2 and N2 Flip with foldable screens are likely to be launched in mid-December in conjunction with Oppo’s Inno Day 2022. He also ponders the possibility of Oppo introducing its new Find X6 flagship smartphone which could run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
From the looks of it, the Find N2 and N2 Flip will be Oppo’s direct rivals to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4. Besides the price, it would be interesting to see if Oppo can better address durability, crease and water resistance concerns associated with foldable devices with the new Find N2 series.
At the moment, Oppo has yet to announce any dates for its Inno Day 2022 event but it is likely to take place around the 2nd to 3rd week of December ahead of the Christmas holidays. This week, Oppo is launching its Reno 9 series which will feature a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage for its highest Reno 9 Pro+ model.
Oppo Find N was an interesting attempt to take on the Samsung Z Fold series
In December last year, we managed to have a hands-on with the Oppo Find N which is surprisingly smaller than other phone-to-table foldable devices. When folded, it is about the size of an iPhone 13 Mini and it features a 5.49″ AMOLED screen with a 1972×988 pixels resolution. Meanwhile, the inside gets a larger 7.1″ AMOLED display with a 1920×1792 pixels resolution. Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 4 which still has a notable “thigh gap” and crease, the Find N seems to have a better execution with its Flexion Hinge. The crease is less noticeable and you can close it shut with a very minimal gap.
The Find N runs on a Snapdragon 888 processor with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It has a 4,500mAh battery and supports 33W wired fast charging. There’s also support for 15W wireless fast charging and 10W verse wireless charging. Probably the only major omission is water resistance which the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a rating of IPX8.
