Vivo has recently teased that it will soon bring its iQoo sub-brand to the Malaysian market. Before the year is out, it has teased that its iQoo 11 5G smartphone with BMW Motorsport collaboration will be coming to Malaysia very soon.
According to Vivo Malaysia’s cryptic press release, they hinted that the iQoo 11 5G (I2212) would be running on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor which was just announced this week. They added that the new flagship smartphone would feature Vivo’s V2 Image Signal Processor which Vivo claims will improve image quality to “elevate the gaming experience”. Vivo Malaysia said more details about the device would be revealed in the coming weeks.
According to 91Mobile’s sources, the iQoo 11 series would come with at least two models. The top-of-the-line iQoo 11 Pro model is expected to run on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage. The device is expected to feature a 6.78″ 144Hz AMOLED display and come with a quad-camera setup consisting of high-resolution 64MP, 50MP and 48MP sensors. The iQoo 11 Pro is said to come with a 4,700mAh battery with support for an insane 200W fast charging.
Meanwhile, the lower iQoo 11 is expected to run on the same 6.78″ 144Hz display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. However, the camera is a notch below with a 50MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 12MP telephoto camera. Despite being the cheaper device, the iQoo 11 is said to come with a large 5,000mAh battery that supports 125W fast charging.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is Qualcomm’s latest flagship mobile chip which succeeds the current 8 Gen 1. It is still fabricated on TSMC’s 4nm process and will pack 8-core Kryp CPUs. This includes a prime core using an ARM Cortex-X3 running at 3.2GHz, four performance cores running at 2.8GHz and three efficiency cores running at 2.0GHz. According to Qualcomm, the new chip is 35% faster and 40% more power efficient than its previous generation chip.
In the graphics department, the new chip gets a new Adreno GPU which claims to offer up to 25% improvement in performance and up to 45% greater power efficiency. This is also the first mobile GPU to support Vulkan 1.3 along with OpenGL ES 3.2 and OpenCL 2.0 FP. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 also gets an upgraded Hexagon digital signal processor which is said to be the most advanced Qualcomm AI engine yet, that can enable faster natural language processing with multi-language transitions.
