GE15: This is how to check which candidates you can vote for based on your area

The 2022 Malaysian general election (GE15) is coming up on 19 November 2022, but have you gotten to know all of the candidate representatives of your area yet? Well, MySPRSemak has an easy-to-access portal that helps you check your candidates.

MySPRSemak has been a portal for a while now, and previously we’ve reported that it can be used to check your GE15 polling location by typing in your IC number. The information you get also includes the recommendation for voting time, as well as your own personal details and your “Saluran” number (Saluran 1, for example, is reserved for OKU).

Besides a section that lets you check your polling location, the portal also had a section that says “Check Your Candidates” (Semakan Calon Pilihan Raya). However, when we reported it in late October, the section wasn’t ready yet.

Now that it’s ready to use, you can select that option which will guide you to two buttons—one for GE15, and one for the more specific “PRK DUN N.66 Bugaya”. Select the button for GE15 (Pilihan Raya Umum Ke-15).

Then, select the state (Negeri) and pick your area’s state (for example: Selangor). You can then pick the polling area. If you’re unsure of what your area is, you can go ahead and check your details in MySPRSemak’s “Semakan Daftar Pemilih” section. You can refer to this article for more help.

Picking the area will give you the list of candidates you can vote for, as well as which parties they represent. With this information in the palm of your hand, you can now search for the candidates to look up their policies and other bits of information. Hopefully, this can give you a clearer idea of your options when you go out and vote in the upcoming election.
