Maxis remains the only major telco in Malaysia that hasn’t signed the 5G access agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad. In a press release issued this evening, the green telco has expressed its commitment to playing an active role in bringing 5G to the nation and utilising the national 5G network.
Maxis says the board is still assessing the governance requirements for the 5G access agreement. It added that they are committed to bringing this to a close as soon as possible.
In the meantime, the telco will continue to support the nation’s 5G aspirations in strengthening Malaysia’s competitiveness in the region. It added that it has already been developing multi-industry use cases and forging partnerships with major 5G players for 5G services and solutions.
Today, four telcos – Celcom, Digi, Telekom Malaysia and U Mobile have signed their 5G access agreements with DNB. TM’s Unifi Mobile has started offering unlimited 5G services today, while Celcom will turn on 5G for selected postpaid and prepaid customers tomorrow. Meanwhile, U Mobile has announced that it is enabling 5G for selected postpaid and prepaid customers on 3rd November.
