If you’ve been planning to get yourself a new smartwatch, then you might be pleased to hear that Apple’s latest range of wearables are now available for purchase in Malaysia, along with the iPhone 14 Plus. There’s three new models this time around, with options across the price range that also come with very different features and designs.

Apple Watch Ultra, Series 8 and SE pricing and availability

Here’s how much one of Apple’s new lineup of smartwatches will cost you in Malaysia:

  • Apple Watch Series 8 41mm, aluminium – RM1,899
  • Apple Watch Series 8 41mm, aluminium, cellular – RM2,299
  • Apple Watch Series 8 45mm, aluminium – RM1,999
  • Apple Watch Series 8 45mm, aluminium, cellular – RM2,399
  • Apple Watch Series 8 41mm, stainless steel, cellular – RM3,299
  • Apple Watch Series 8 45mm, stainless steel, cellular – RM3,499
  • Apple Watch SE 40mm – RM1,199
  • Apple Watch SE 40mm, cellular – RM1,399
  • Apple Watch SE 44mm – RM1,299
  • Apple Watch SE 44mm, cellular – RM1,499

The new wearables are now officially on sale in Malaysia, and you can get them from the official Apple Online Store, as well as from authorised Apple resellers on Lazada and Shopee such as TMT, Switch, ITWorld, Machines and SenQ. It’s worth noting though that if you do order from the Apple Online Store, the Watch Ultra ships in 3-4 weeks while the Watch 8 and Watch SE will only take one business day.

Apple Watch Ultra, Series 8 and SE specs

The new headline smartwatch from Apple is of course the Watch Ultra. Coming in at a massive 49mm, the Watch Ultra is built from aerospace-grade titanium with a sapphire crystal front for extra resistance against scratches and bumps. The screen itself is a flat display that pushes a peak brightness of 2,000nits. It is also a diving smartwatch that can handles depths of up to 100m, with a temperature range between -20°C and 55°C. As for the band, you can pick between a Trail Loop, an Alpine Loop with a titanium G-hook fastener and an Ocean Band with a titanium buckle.

Under the hood, there’s the new S8 chip with a battery capable of up to 36 hours of use on a single charge, with a battery optimisation setting able to push it up to 60 hours if needed too. The Watch Ultra also packs a triple microphone setup with adaptive beamforming for improved call voice quality, while a dual-frequency GPS improves the navigation system on it with a special 86dB siren available for when you’re out in the woods and lost. There’s also a crash detection mode to detect when you’ve been in a severe car accident, in which case it’ll automatically call emergency services.

If you don’t need such a massive computer on your wrist, the more mainstream Watch 8 option is also available. Available in either 41mm or 45mm options, it has a mostly identical look to the Series 7 from last year, with an Ion-X front on the aluminum models while the stainless steel ones get sapphire crystal instead. The S8 chip under the hood will go for up to 18 hours of regular use, with up to 36 hours of battery life possible when using the new Low Power Mode. Apple has added two new temperature sensors here too that work to detect fluctuations in body temperature every five seconds. There’s also better menstrual cycle tracking as well as crash detection too.

As for the Watch SE, the new budget smartwatch option from Apple is mostly the same device as the original Watch SE from a couple of years back. It’s available in either 40mm or 44mm options, with an OLED Retina display along with some rather thick bezels. It packs the latest S8 chip under the hood though, with up to 18 hours of battery lift. Being the budget option though, you do lose features such as always-on display, temperature sensors, a blood oxygen sensor nor does it have an electric heart sensor. There’s no IP6X dust resistance too, although it is still water resistant up to 50m.
