Besides the Xiaomi 12T, Xiaomi Malaysia has also introduced the Redmi Pad, its new affordable Android tablet priced from under RM1,000. Despite being a cheaper tablet than the Xiaomi Pad 5, the Redmi Pad still gets a high-refresh-rate display, a large 8,000mAh battery and a quad-speaker setup.
Redmi Pad Malaysia Price and Availability
The Redmi Pad is offered in 3 different RAM and storage configurations and here’s the official pricing in Malaysia:
- Redmi Pad 3GB RAM + 64GB storage – RM899
- Redmi Pad 4GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM999
- Redmi Pad 6GB RAM + 128GB storage – RM1,099
The tablet will be available for purchase at authorised Xiaomi stores, authorised retailers, and online stores on Lazada and Shopee from 5th October 2022. The Redmi Pad is offered in Graphite Gray, Moonlight Silver and Mint Green.
Redmi Pad Malaysia Specs
The Redmi Pad comes with a 10.61″ LCD display which pushes a 2000×1200 pixels resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It has a maximum brightness of 400 nits and a contrast ratio of 1500:1. Under the hood, the tablet runs on a 6nm MediaTek Helio G99 that can be paired with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
The Redmi Pad gets 8MP cameras for both front and back. The front shooter boasts a 105-degree ultra-wide angle with a “Centre Stage”-like FocusFrame technology to keep you at the centre of the frame during video calls. For a more enjoyable audio experience, the Pad is equipped with a quad-speaker setup with Dolby Atmos.
Overall, this new Android tablet is 7.05mm thin and weighs 445 grams. Keeping the lights on, it gets a generous 8,000mAh battery that claims to provide more than 21 hours of video playback and it supports 18W fast charging via USB-C. Xiaomi has included a higher-rated 22.5W charger in the box.
The Redmi Pad runs on Android 12 with MIUI 13 that offers split-screen, floating windows and multi-window mode for an improved multi-tasking experience on the 6GB RAM model. According to Xiaomi India’s page, they are promising 3 years of security updates along with two versions of Android and MIUI updates across 3 years.
