Magic’s latest set Dominaria United is out now with ‘lost legends’ and stained art lands

Magic: the Gathering is arguably the definitive trading card game for many, and it’s been nearly three decades now since it debuted. As such, Wizards of the Coast, the people behind the game, has brought players back to Dominaria, the original world that Magic’s cards and story was set in, with 281 cards in the new Dominaria United set.

Already available since last weekend, Dominaria United brings us back to its titular world, and reintroduces to players familiar faces of past such as Karn, Ajani Goldmane, Jodah and Jaya Ballard. However, their world is in danger as the Sheoldred, an ancient Praetor, is back with his Phyrexian army—hellbent on invading Dominaria, destroying not just it but also the rest of the Multiverse. Gameplay-wise, we’re also getting some new mechanics, such as Domain, Enlist and Read Ahead.

For the collectors out there, those who get themselves one of Dominaria United’s collector booster packs will also have a 3% chance of opening up one of the special ‘Lost Legends’ packs. These will include an actual card from the original Legends set from 1994. The story goes that Wizards found a case of Legends booster packs somewhere in their warehouse, and decided to open them up and put them into random collector booster packs for Dominaria United.

Another cool part of Dominaria United is certainly the new full art basic lands. If you’re tired of the regular ol’ bunch of Plains, Islands, Swamps, Mountains and Forests, Dominaria United features these gorgeous basic lands with full stained glass art over them, showcasing the five symbols for the basic lands.

Both newer players and Magic veterans meanwhile who just want to shuffle up and play can also get themselves the new Jumpstart booster packs. Each pack comes with 20 cards that follow a specific theme or archetype, and you simply need to get two packs of Jumpstart Dominaria United, shuffle them up and you’re ready to play.

You’ll be able to find Dominaria United sealed products and singles at your local game store, and you can click here to find one nearest to you.
