This post is brought to you by iRobot™.
People often say that robots are the future…of making your life easier. But the truth is that they’re actually already doing that right now. One of the most tedious things you have to do after a long day (or week) of work is to clean your home.
So, why not come home to a clean house when you pick up one of iRobot™’s intelligent robot vacuum cleaners or mops?
There’s a reason whenever people refer to robot vacuum cleaners, the first thought on their mind is the Roomba®. According to the Global Consumer Electronics Market Research 2022 published by Fuji Keizai Co., Ltd., iRobot holds the number one spot in the global market share for robot vacuum cleaners.
To understand why, all you need to do is look at what the brand new Roomba® j7 is capable of. While the more basic robot vacuum cleaners require that you make sure your floor is clear of stuff like charging cables or pet waste, the Roomba® j7 is smart enough to avoid them automatically.
Thanks to its PrecisionVision Navigation system, the little robot vacuum cleaner is able to identify these hazards and avoid them. This makes your life even easier not only because you won’t have to worry about picking every cable off the ground, but also that your vacuuming won’t stop because your robot vacuum cleaner gets stuck on some silly cables of furniture.
On top of that, the Roomba® j7 will also respond to commands from the iRobot™ Home app or voice assistant (Alexa or Google Assistant) so you don’t have to actually be near it to give it commands. This comes in handy for the Targeted Area Cleaning feature that allows you to direct the Roomba® j7 to a specific spot in your house to clean up a mess that just happened. Just tell it through your phone remotely, and the Roomba® j7 will get straight to work.
And it’ll make quick work of whatever mess or cleaning job you ask it to take care off too. That’s because the Roomba® j7 features a powerful 3-stage cleaning system which pairs dual multi-surface rubber brushes and an edge cleaning brush that sweeps walls and corners, with 10x the power-lifting suction force of the Roomba® 600 series AeroVac system.
But the Roomba® j7 doesn’t just burn energy by running those powerful cleaning systems at 100% all the time. By using its advanced sensor, the Roomba® j7 can evaluate the cleanliness of the floor. If the floor is still clean, it will just perform a casual clean.
However, if its sensors detect a large number of particles in an area, the Roomba® j7 will activate a feature called Dirt Detect™ Technology and will focus its cleaning effort in that area until the particle count is below the threshold. Ensuring that its dual multi-surface rubber brushes don’t miss any spots, the Roomba® j7 cleans in neat and efficient zig-zag rows.
When the battery runs low while the Roomba® j7 is on its cleaning cycle, it will automatically navigate back to its charging base. Now, iRobot programmed the Roomba® j7 to be efficient at its job. So, it doesn’t wait for a full charge but instead uses smart charge and resume where it calculates the approximate amount of charge needed to finish cleaning and then resumes cleaning right where it left off.
You can even opt for the Roomba® j7+ which comes with the Clean Base™ automatic dirt disposal dock that will automatically empty the Roomba® for up to 60 days. This way, you won’t have to worry about cleaning the bin for months.
When the time to empty out the bin eventually arrives, that cleaning process is made that much easier thanks to the enclosed AllergenLockTM bag. There’s no need to worry about potentially releasing a cloud of dirt and debris back into your clean home when you open the cover of the Clean Base™ because all the particles are neatly sealed in the AllergenLockTM bag. Just remove the bag using the handle and toss it into a dustbin.
But, if you need more than just a vacuum, iRobot™’s got you covered too with their Braava jet™ m6 Robot mops.
This robot mop incorporates a Precision Jet Spray that it fires in front of itself to help loosen dirt and sticky messes before cleaning it up with the mopping pad. On top of that, the Braava jet™ m6 is also able to intelligently identify what mode to use based on the pad you equip it with. Wet mopping pads feature wicking fibres that can break up sticky messes while dry sweeping pads use electrostatic force to capture dirt, dust, and pet hair.
Just like the Roomba® j7, the Braava jet™ m6 also supports commands from the iRobot™ OS (formerly known as iRobot™ Home app) and compatible voice assistant so you can tell it to target specific spots in your home through the same Targeted Area cleaning feature.
There’s a lot more you can do besides that with the iRobot™ OS.
One cool feature that you can take advantage of if you have both the Roomba® j7 and Braava jet™ m6 is to sync both cleaning robots together via the Imprint™ Link Technology. Once synced, the robots will work in tandem where the Braava jet™ m6 will mop your house automatically once the Roomba® j7 finishes vacuuming.
Also in the app, you can set Clean Zones for a specific room, which instructs the robot to just clean that section of the room. For example, you can create a clean zone for your kitchen that covers underneath the dining table, where food crumbs might end up.
So, after each family meal, you can schedule the robot cleaners to tidy up just that spot quickly, instead of cleaning the entire kitchen which they might have already done earlier.
Other features you can mess with in the iRobot™ OS are:
- Scheduled cleaning with a self-learning algorithm to recommend the best cleaning time.
- Create a Keep Out Zone for temporary durations or make it permanent.
- Receive estimated cleaning times.
- Map Coaching for in-depth mapping to fine-tune the calibration of the cleaning robots.
- Receive picture notifications from the robots when unpassable obstacles are detected.
Thanks to the comprehensive feature set of the iRobot™ OS, you literally won’t have to lift a finger once you have everything set up the way you like it.
