The OnePlus 10T is the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship smartphone that comes with an insane 150W SuperVOOC fast charging. However, when it’s passed to the hands of Zack of JerryRigEverything, the OnePlus 10T was shown to be easily snapped in half with just his bare hands. It looks like OnePlus hasn’t fixed the same structural concerns found with the OnePlus 10 Pro which raises durability concerns for the new model.
A few days later, OnePlus issued a response on the matter via Gadgets360. According to the statement, the OnePlus 10T meets or exceeds all of OnePlus’ extensive durability testing procedures and it can withstand everyday usage. It added that the tests include a pressure test where weight is applied on the centre of the front and back of the device while being suspended.
OnePlus told Gadget360 that the 10T has an enhanced structure engineering design and can bear over 45kg of external force in their lab. It added that “When designing, engineering, and manufacturing OnePlus devices, we ensure they not only offer a design that is beautiful and burdenless but is also durable so they can withstand everyday usage.”
While the video does look scary, average customers wouldn’t subject their devices to such force in a typical use-case scenario. The screen with its Gorilla Glass 5 protection does perform well against scratches in Zack’s video, showing light scratches on level 6 and deeper groves on level 7.
In case you missed it, the OnePlus 10T is now available for pre-order in Malaysia for RM3,199 via Lazada and Shopee. For Malaysia, there’s only a single 16GB RAM + 256GB storage option and it is only offered in Jade Green. OnePlus Malaysia is bundling extra freebies including 1-year screen protection, 1-year extended warranty, 1-year accidental damage protection and a mystery box which include a RM100 voucher and more.
