Besides the Poco M4 5G, the Xiaomi independent brand is also introducing a brand new entry-level smartphone called the Poco C40 for the Malaysian market. This device was revealed globally back in June and it’s going on sale in Malaysia this coming Thursday from as low as RM449.

Poco C40 Malaysia Pricing

The Poco C40 will be available for online purchase in Malaysia starting from the 18th of August 2022. Here’s the official pricing:

  • Poco C40 3GB RAM + 32GB storage – RM499
  • Poco C40 4GB RAM + 64GB storage – RM599

As part of its early bird promo on Shopee, you can get it for RM50 off if you purchase it between 18th to 24th August 2022, while stocks last. It comes in three colours – Power Black, Coral Green and Poco Yellow.

Poco C40 Malaysia Specs

The C40 is currently Poco’s cheapest 4G smartphone offering and it’s positioned below their current M series. Upfront, the Poco C40 gets a large 6.71″ display which pushes a rather low 1650×720 pixels resolution. Instead of your usual MediaTek or Unisoc processor, this entry-level phone runs on an 11nm JLQ JR510 octa-core processor.

In case you are wondering, JLQ is a Shanghai-based joint-venture company which includes Qualcomm, JAC Capital, Leadcore Technology and Wise Road Capital. The JR510 is their first mass-market 4G mobile chipset which uses ARM Cortex A55 CPU and Mali G52 GPU manufactured on Samsung’s 11nm FinFET technology.

The C40 can be configured with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB extra via microSD card. For taking pictures, it gets a rather basic 13MP main and 2MP depth cameras for the rear, while the front gets a single 5MP selfie shooter. It also gets a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and still comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. This is a dual-SIM 4G LTE device and it supports 5GHz 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0.

Powering the C40 is a large 6,000mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging. According to the global spec sheet, Poco is only including a slower 10W charger with the phone. Out of the box, it runs on Android 11 with MIUI 13 for Poco skin on top.
