The Acer Swift 5 has long been one of the Taiwanese giant’s mainstream premium laptop option, and during their recent Acer Day event they’ve announced that it’s now been refreshed in Malaysia with 12th Gen Intel Core processors.
There will be three configurations of the new Swift 5 available for purchase in Malaysia, all using new 12th Gen Intel Core processors. Here’s how much they’ll cost you:
If you’re interested, you’ll be able to purchase them from the Acer eStore as well as their official stores on Shopee and Lazada. You’ll also be able to find them from authorised retail stores nationwide. Those who do get themselves a new Swift 5 by 30 September will be able to also get a free Sleeve Case, a backpack as well as RM120 of Touch n’ Go credit, with a further RM100 off if you get it during their Acer Day roadshow from now till the 7th of August.
The Swift 5 as usual will feature a rather sleek and stylish look, packed in its unibody CNC-machined aluminum chassis that weighs 1.2kg light and measures 14.95mm tall. It comes with a 14-inch, 16:10 IPS display that can be fitted with either a WUXGA (1920 x 1200p) or a WQXGA (2560 x 1600p) panel. Both panels will come with multi-touch support and has a layer of antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass over it too. It should be noted though that the WUXGA display has a maximum brightness of 340nits only, while the WQXGA one has a higher 425nits of max brightness.
Under the hood meanwhile you’ll get 12th Gen Intel Core P-series processors, with the base model having an Intel Core i5-1240P with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and a 512GB PCIe SSD. The two other higher spec models meanwhile will come with an Intel Core i7-1260P. 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and a 1TB PCIe SSD. Keeping them cool are a pair of fans together with dual D6 heat pipes and an air inlet keyboard design. Regardless of which model you get though you will find Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics onboard with Windows 11 Home out of the box.
Elsewhere, you’ll find a battery that Acer says will last you for at least 10 hours of real-life use, with a 65W charger that can get you over 4 hours of battery life following a 30-minute charge. The touchpad is also now made of ocean-bound plastic waste dubbed as OceanGlass, for a glass-like feel. There’s also a fingerprint sensor built into the power button, while the webcam is now a 1080p camera with ‘Super High Dynamic Range’ imaging.
As for I/O, the Swift 5 will come with two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two USB-C 4 ports, a HDMI 2.1 port and a 3.5mm audio jack, It features WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 support too, and comes with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2021. Available in Mist Green, Swift 5 users will also get a two year local warranty, with the first year covering international travel too.
