You’ll be having McDonalds fries for breakfast because hashbrowns won’t be available for a while

I was looking to order a McDonalds breakfast over the weekend when I came across a peculiar prompt. Instead of the regular hashbrowns, McDonalds asked if I wanted either fries, apple pie, or corn to go with my scrambled egg sandwich. But it wasn’t just my area that was going through a hashbrown shortage—the whole of Malaysia, it seems, is going through the drought.

Twitter user Faizal Rosly posted the same situation I was in, in that the McDonalds he was in replaced hashbrowns with fries. He posted a relatable meme to go with it, too.

On the same day, McDonalds Malaysia tweeted to confirm the lack of its hashbrowns as its side dish for breakfast sets. It said that the lack of hashbrowns is “only for a while” until their stock comes back.

Tweet ini ditujukan untuk peminat2 Hashbrown Breakfast kami. Sesungguhnya perpisahan ini hanyalah sementara sahaja… sehingga stok kembali sediakala.

Sebabkan ramai yang sedih… Min buka komen untuk luahkan harapan untuk Hasbrown kembali. Silakan…

“Because a lot of you are upset, (this admin) will open up the comments section for you to share your feelings for hashbrowns to come back,” continued McDonalds Malaysia.

Naturally, the comments section was filled with how much Malaysians really liked its hashbrowns. It goes to show how we miss things when they’re gone, huh?

Jgn lama sangat…aku breakfast kat mcd pun sebab ada hashbrown

Earlier this year, McDonalds Malaysia announced a “fry-tening” shortage of french fries. This means that you’ll no longer be able to order large fries, or any meal with large french fries. However, you’ll still be able to order medium fries or order a medium meal.

Today, you’re still unable to really order a large fries—according to the delivery site. It’s just wild that they’re now willing to sacrifice some of those fries for breakfast to replace hashbrowns.
