Samsung has officially announced its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event where it will unveil its latest foldable devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The event is happening on 10th August which is almost exactly a year after they launched the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3.
If you want to catch the Galaxy Unpacked event live, you can watch the live stream on Samsung’s YouTube channel and website at 9pm Malaysian Time on Wednesday, 10th August 2022. The theme of the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event is “Unfold your world” and the invite image shows 10th August is better than today. The invite reads, “Innovation isn’t just about radical ideas; it’s about unlocking new experiences that transform our daily lives for the better. Meaningful innovations go beyond the technical and provide a platform upon which our everyday lives become richer and more versatile — opening us up to greater possibilities than ever before.”
From the teaser and leaks, the new Galaxy Z Flip 4 will have a flat metal frame, which is a current trend with most new smartphones lately. It has been speculated that Samsung may start accepting pre-orders on 16th August and the devices will be available on 26th August.
Samsung currently leads in the foldable smartphone segment and the current Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are solid contenders which come with IPX8-rated water resistance. For the Galaxy Note fans, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first in the lineup to finally come with S Pen support but you would still need to store the stylus separately.
When last year’s Galaxy Z devices were launched in Malaysia, the Z Fold 3 was priced from RM6,699 while the Z Flip 3 was priced from RM3,999, which is a pretty accessible price point for a foldable device. It would be interesting to see if Samsung would revise its pricing further downwards and if they can make significant improvements to reduce the crease line of the foldable display.
Samsung Malaysia offers RM200 eVouchers if you register your interest
