OnePlus Nord 2T and Nord CE 2 Lite Malaysia: Everything you need to know

OnePlus built its reputation by making some very good smartphones over the years with their flagship-killer smartphones. While that’s perhaps no longer the case, OnePlus are now back with the OnePlus Nord 2T which they say comes with ‘flagship-worth’ hardware, as well as the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite that according to them promises all the core features OnePlus users love.

OnePlus Nord 2T and Nord CE 2 Lite Malaysia pricing and availability

Both the OnePlus Nord 2T and the Nord CE 2 Lite will be available for purchase from the 19th of July onwards on the official OnePlus store on Shopee and Lazada, as well as their authorised retail stores nationwide. Here’s how much they’ll cost you:

  • OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage – RM1,199
  • OnePlus Nord 2T, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage – RM1,899
  • OnePlus Nord 2T, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM2,099

If you’re early, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite will have an early bird promotion on the 19th, with RM200 off its price tag. The OnePlus Nord 2T meanwhile will have an early bird promotion from 19-31 July where buyers will get a free pair of OnePlus Nord Buds and an additional year of screen protection. On top of that, they also revealed that the OnePlus Buds Pro and the OnePlus Nord Buds will be available for purchase from 19 July too, priced at RM799 and RM299 respectively.

OnePlus Nord 2T specs

Starting off with the pricier of the two Nord devices, the OnePlus Nord 2T has a 6.43-inch, FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It covers the sRGB and P3 colour gamuts and has HDR10+ certification too. The Nord 2T measures 8.2mm thick, 190g light and has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 over the screen for scratch resistance.

Under the hood, you’re getting a MediaTek Dimensity 1300, which is a relatively new upper midrange processor packing four Cortex-A78 cores and four Cortex-A55 cores offering somewhat similar performance to the Snapdragon 778G. It’s mated to up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 too. As usual with OnePlus devices, the Nord 2T will come with OxygenOS based on Android 12 out of the box, though OnePlus are only guaranteeing two major Android OS upgrades here with three years of security patches.

In the camera department meanwhile there’s a triple rear camera setup with a main 50MP, f/1.8 camera using the Sony IMX766 sensor flanked by an 8MP, f/2.2 ultrawide angle shooter along with a 2MP, f/2.2 mono lens too. As for those of you who want to take selfies, you’re getting a 32MP, f/2.4 front facing camera built on the Sony IMX615 sensor.

Other features of note include a 4,500mAh battery with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging that OnePlus says can fully charge the Nord 2T from zero to 100% in just 15 minutes. You’ll also find an in-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers along with support for NFC, 5G, Bluetooth 5.2 and WiFi 6. The OnePlus Nord 2T will be available in Gray Shadow and Jade Fog.

OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite specs

While the OnePlus Nord 2T can be considered a more ‘premium’ midrange device, the Nord CE 2 Lite on the other hand sits firmly in the middle of the pack as your more typical midrange smartphone. There’s a 6.59-inch, FHD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, though there’s no mention of any Corning Gorilla Glass layer over it here. It measures 8.5mm thick, and weighs 195g.

Powering the Nord CE 2 Lite meanwhile is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 system-on-chip, with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It too comes with OxygenOS based on Android 12 out of the box with two major Android OS upgrades and three years of security patches.

Just like the Nord 2T though, the Nord CE 2 Lite has a triple rear camera setup, though no ultrawide angle shooter. Instead, you’re getting a 64MP, f/1.7 main camera with a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth-assist camera. On the front of the device meanwhile is a 16MP, f/2.0 selfie camera built on a Sony IMX471 image sensor.

Elsewhere, there’s a 5,000mAh battery with 33W SuperVOOC fast charging, a side-mounted fingerprint and a 3.5mm audio jack, though it does lack stereo speakers and doesn’t have the classic OnePlus alert slider either. It comes with support for WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.2 and 5G connectivity, and will be available in Black Dusk and Blue Tide colourways.
