The Acer Predator GD711 is a RM4,999, 4K gaming projector with a 240Hz refresh rate

If you’ve ever looked at your 32-inch gaming monitor and thought that it wasn’t big enough for you, Acer has a solution of sorts for you. Dubbed the Predator GD711, it’s a gaming projector that gamers will be able to use for both consoles and PC setups to fill up the wall of your man cave.

Acer Predator GD711 Malaysia pricing and availability

The Acer Predator GD711 is now available for purchase from the Acer online eStore, their official stores on Shopee and Lazada as well as their authorised retail partners nationwide. It will retail at RM4,999 but if you want to get it right now, you’ll be able to get a RM300 cash discount as well as free gifts such as Touch ‘n Go eWallet credit, a gaming mouse and Steam codes worth RM199.

Acer Predator GD711 specs

The Acer Predator GD711 is a projector capable of up to 4K LED projection with HDR10 and covers 125% of the Rec.709 colour space which Acer says gets you an accurate cinematic colour reproduction. Being a gaming monitor, it’s also capable of outputting up to a 240Hz refresh rate, though for that you will need to lower it down to 1080p. There’s variable refresh rate too to ensure minimal tearing when using the Predator GD711.

Acer also says that the Predator GD711 is capable of up to a 300-inch projection distance, though they do recommend that for the best output you use it at 2.7 meters away for a screen that’s 100-inches in size. It’s capable of 4,000 LED lumens of brightness and 1,450 ANSI lumens of of brightness. For comparison, the similarly-priced Samsung Freestyle only gets you around 250 ANSI lumens, which is why when we unboxed it we found the brightness of the projection rather dim and lackluster.

Other than that, the Acer Predator GD711 is able to produce a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. You’ll also find a Game Mode setting on the Predator GD711 which lets you tweak the contrast and dark levels to fit your liking. There’s even a Football Mode which gets you a brighter, more saturated look for watching football. For audio, you get a 10W speaker while the remote itself apparently has an antimicrobial layer over it. As for I/O, there’s two HDMI ports, a Kensington lock, an audio jack and two USB-A ports on the back.

It’s a smart projector too, coming pre-loaded with the third-party Aptoide TV App market where you can download apps like YouTube, Netflix and more. Alternatively, the Predator GD711 supports wireless casting via the Miracast app so that you can hook it up to your smartphone or laptop. Other features include an auto-keystone function, presence detection to automatically turn on and a rated lifespan of 30,000 hours.

If you’re keen on checking out the Predator GD711 to replace your big screen TV, you can head over to its product page on the Acer website here.
