The Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop is perhaps one of the best known options for gamers on a budget, typically offering a good value for the specs offered. For this year, Acer has refreshed the Nitro 5 with the latest 12th Generation Intel Core processors
Acer Nitro 5 Malaysia pricing and availability
There will be five different configurations of the Nitro 5 on offer, giving options for almost any budget. Here’s how much the Nitro 5 will cost you:
- Acer Nitro 5 – Intel Core i5-12500H, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, RTX 3050 Ti – RM4,399
- Acer Nitro 5 – Intel Core i7-12700H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, RTX 3050 – RM5,299
- Acer Nitro 5 – Intel Core i7-12700H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, RTX 3050 Ti – RM5,499
- Acer Nitro 5 – Intel Core i7-12700H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, RTX 3060 – RM5,999
- Acer Nitro 5 – Intel Core i7-12700H, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, RTX 3070 Ti – RM8,699
While it does start at a higher price point compared to last year’s AMD-powered Nitro 5 laptops, it should be pointed out that the base model does feature a more powerful graphics card with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, up from the GTX 1650. Curiously, the next step up in the Nitro 5 lineup trades the RTX 3050 Ti for an RTX 3050, though you get double the RAM instead.
On top of that, you can purchase the Nitro 5 from Acer official eStore and their authorised retail partners nationwide, and if you do so before 14 July you will be able to get merchandise worth up to RM833, such as a backpack, accessories and more. There’s also a cash rebate of RM150 for those who purchase the Nitro 5 during the Acer ‘It Lies Within’ roadshow.
Acer Nitro 5 specs
Right off the bat, the Nitro 5 has changed up its looks for a minimalist gaming aesthetic, though I doubt it’ll look right in a corporate office still. As for display, there’s two options here with a 15.6-inch display coming in either a QHD resolution, IPS display with a 165Hz refresh rate or a FHD resolution, IPS display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The former covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut while the latter covers 45% of the NTSC colour gamut, with up to a 3ms response time.
Under the hood, there’s a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12500H on the base model, with the other configurations getting the Core i7-12700H, with up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage. There’s also an option to add an additional 2.5-inch SATA drive if you want even more storage. As for graphics you’ll get up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti to choose from, and a MUX switch is present on the Nitro 5 too. Cooling it all meanwhile is a dual fan cooling system with four exhaust ports.
Acer has not disclosed the battery size, but we do know that depending on the model you get, the power supply will be rated between 180W to 280W. For I/O you’re getting a HDMI port, three USB-A 3.2 ports, a USB-C port and an Ethernet port along with a 3.5mm audio jack. You’ll also find WIFI 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity on the Nitro 5. Elsewhere, there’s a 4-zone RGB keyboard and dual 2W speakers too. The Nitro 5 weighs about 2.5kg and measures 271.1mm thick.
