MEASAT-3d, Malaysia’s latest satellite, has successfully launched into orbit onboard Ariane 5 flight VA257 this morning at 5.50am Malaysian time. Taking off from the Kourou Space Centre in French Guiana, MEASAT-3d is slated to being internet access to the most rural parts of Malaysia. A few of us from the SoyaCincau office were able to catch the launch in person in Kourou, and you can click here for more extensive coverage of MEASAT-3d.
This article though will feature some of the best images taken by us as well as others of the MEASAT-3d launch. It’s a rather historic event, and for those of you who weren’t awake in time to catch the launch on the livestream, here are shots of Ariane 5 flight VA257 as it races into space.

Another success for @Ariane5 and all teams involved!

Thanks for your trust, @MEASAT! It’s been an honor to launch our fourth satellite together! The first one was MEASAT 1 in 1996… #ICYMI, it also was the 137th satellite built by @AirbusSpace that we launched!#VA257 pic.twitter.com/XeKPphhOVM

Very interesting dark line in the sky, not sure what caused it… This isn’t a photo artifact, we could see it live. #VA257 pic.twitter.com/EwdnvDv94N
