UPDATE: The free-toll offer for the post-Hari Raya holiday is ending at 11:59pm, 8th May (Sunday).
===
The two-day free-toll offer for the pre-Hari Raya season is coming to an end at 11:59pm tonight, 1st May (Sunday). If you’re still travelling on the North-South Expressway, take note that the toll waiver is calculated when you exit the highway. Here’s what you should do if you can’t exit the highway before midnight so that you can still benefit from the free toll promo.
Even if you enter the highway during the free toll period, you will have to pay the toll charges if you exit the highway after 11:59pm tonight. Therefore, you must tap your TNG card, or have your SmartTAG or RFID tag scanned by 11:59pm at the toll plaza in order to qualify for the toll waiver.
If you’re stuck in a congested jam and can’t reach your intended toll plaza by 11:59pm, PLUS advises its highway users to exit at their nearest toll plaza earlier to enjoy the free toll waiver. For example, if you’re driving from Kuala Lumpur (Damansara Toll Plaza) to Johor Bahru (Skudai Toll Plaza), you can exit early at Yong Peng Utara before 11:59pm to enjoy free toll (RM27.72 waiver) for that stretch. And then you can enter back the highway via Yong Peng Selatan and pay RM9.10 for the rest of your journey to Skudai toll plaza.
Take note that you should enter and exit the highway using the same payment lane. If you entered the highway via RFID, you should also exit via RFID. As always, do ensure that you have a sufficient TNG card balance or TNG eWallet balance (if you’re using RFID) at all times before starting your journey.
The next free toll period for North-South Expressway is happening next weekend, from 12:01am Saturday 7th May until 11:59pm Sunday 8th May 2022.
