Last month, Apple introduced its Mac Studio which can be described as a Mac mini on steroids. It can be configured with the M1 Ultra, which is Apple’s most powerful processor yet. If you’re eyeing the Max Studio, it is now available for purchase in Malaysia through their official online store.
Mac Studio Malaysia Pricing and Availability
The Mac Studio is officially priced from RM8,799 for the base M1 Max model with 32GB memory and 512GB SSD. If you want more power, there’s the M1 Ultra option which starts from RM16,799 with the 64GB memory and 1TB SSD configuration.
According to the Apple online store listing, the Mac Studio M1 Max will ship starting 26th May 2022 while the M1 Ultra option will start shipping later from 23rd June 2022. The M1 Max comes with a 10-core CPU, 24-core GPU and 16-core Neural engine, and Apple also offers a 32-core GPU option if you need more graphic performance. Meanwhile, the M1 Ultra gets 20-core CPU, 48-core GPU and 32-core Neural engine, with the option for a more powerful 64-core GPU.
Maxed out Mac Studio with Studio Display costs over RM40,000
If money is no object, you can customise your very own Mac Studio with a 64-core GPU M1 Ultra, 128GB memory and 8TB SSD for RM32,799. That’s already over RM7,000 more expensive than a fully-specced MacBook Pro 16 with an M1 Max processor.
Obviously, you would need a monitor to pair with your new powerful Mac Studio and the Apple’s 27″ 5K Studio Display monitor starts from RM6,999 with a tilt-adjustable stand. If you opt for the Nano-texture glass along with a tilt and height-adjustable stand, it will cost you RM9,899. Bundled with the already fully-specced Mac Studio M1 Ultra, the grand total is now RM42,698.
Magic Keyboard, Mouse or TrackPad not included
However, the Mac Studio isn’t really ready out of the box as Apple didn’t include any input devices with its already premium package. The full-sized Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Pad costs RM729, while the Magic Trackpad costs RM569. If you prefer the Magic mouse, it will cost you RM379. If you want your setup to look different from other Mac users, these peripherals are also available in black.
So in total, that’s RM43,996 for the Mac Studio and Studio Display along with the Magic Keyboard and Trackpad combo. For the price, you could almost get the base spec 1.3L G variant of the new Perodua Myvi 2022 which is priced at RM45,700.
This isn’t the most expensive Apple Mac combo we’ve seen so far. In 2019, the fully-specced Mac Pro with a Pro Display XDR and stand costs a whopping RM262,106. That was more expensive than a BMW 330e M Sport at the time.
You can learn more about the Mac Studio in our announcement post. In case you missed it, some Mac Studio units are stamped with a “Made in Malaysia” label but it turns out that the final assembly is done somewhere else.
