Vehicles entering Johor from Singapore are still required to tap Touch ‘n Go card despite RM20 Road Charge waiver

As Malaysia and Singapore reopen the land crossing between Johor and Singapore, highway concessionaire PLUS has reminded incoming travellers to get ready their Touch ‘n Go card for their trip. Although the Transport Ministry has announced a one-week waiver for the RM20 road charge for vehicles entering Johor, drivers are still required to tap their Touch ‘n Go or MyKad on the card reader at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and Tanjung Kupang toll plazas in Johor. If you have a SmartTAG device, you can drive through at the designated lanes.

We are told that an invalid TNG card (dormant) can still be used at the first toll plaza and you can purchase a new TNG card after crossing the border. Expired cards are not accepted and you can purchase an EZ-Link x Touch ‘n Go card at selected 7-Eleven outlets in Singapore. You can learn more about the dual-currency contactless card on EZ-Link’s website.

The toll fee will be waived for Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and Tanjung Kupang for a period of one week from 1st to 7th April 2022. To continue with your journey on the North-South Expressway, you must ensure sufficient balance on your TNG Card. Touch ‘n Go will deploy mobile teams at both Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and Tanjung Kupang complexes until the 30th of April 2022 to assist with reloads. Do note that only credit and debit cards are accepted for TNG reloads at the two locations. If you’re wondering if your existing Touch ‘n Go card is still valid, you can refer to our guide.

In anticipation of more vehicles on highways, PLUS has also increased the number of Customer Service Assistance at both border toll plazas to assist their customers.
