Oppo Malaysia has officially launched the Reno 7 Z 5G, which will join the Reno 7 and Reno 7 Pro. It is positioned as an entry-level model in the Reno 7 series with a lower spec list. That said, it is the only variant in the series to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor while the other two are powered by MediaTek processors.
The Oppo Reno 7 Z 5G is officially priced at RM1,699 and is only available with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Exclusive to this model are two new colour options called Cosmic Black and Rainbow Spectrum.
Pre-orders for the Oppo Reno 7 Z 5G start on 29th March 2022 on Oppo Malaysia’s online store, official Shopee store, and Oppo Brand Stores. Expect your order to start shipping out on 1st April 2022.
Oppo Malaysia is also offering gifts worth up to RM233 when you pre-order the Reno 7 Z 5G between 29th March to 1st April 2022. This includes a Reno Bag (worth RM109) and 50% off the Enco Air2 true wireless earbuds at RM124.50 (RRP RM249).
Meanwhile, Shopee is offering the first 100 customers an additional RM129 worth of gifts for a total value of RM362, if they purchase a Reno 7 Z 5G between 29th March to 10th April. These are an RM50 ShopeePay Rebate for ShopeePay activated users and an Oppo branded stainless-steel cup (worth RM79). On top of that, all customers will get 10 ticket entries to join a lucky draw on Oppo Malaysia’s official Shopee store happening from 29th March to 8th April 2022.
In case you missed the pre-order, the Oppo Reno 7 Z 5G will be available in stock starting on 2nd April 2022. Furthermore, during the first sale period between 2nd April to 17th April 2022, you will also receive the same RM233 worth of free gifts. The Oppo Reno 7 Z 5G will only be available on Oppo Malaysia’s official Lazada store starting on 9th April 2022.
To recap, the Reno 7 5G and Reno 7 Pro 5G are priced at RM1,999 and RM2,999 respectively.
The Oppo Reno 7 Z 5G takes design cues from the Reno 7 Pro with its flat frame design. Moving on, it sports a 6.43” FHD+ AMOLED display with a standard 60Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak brightness. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G chip mated to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.0 storage. If needed, the RAM can be expanded by an additional 5GB using Oppo’s RAM Expansion software. Likewise, the storage is also expandable via a microSD card up to 1TB.
Handling photography duties is a primary 64MP camera which is complemented by a 2MP depth camera to assist with bokeh shots and a 2MP macro lens. The Reno 7 Z 5G’s party piece is an RGB light strip around the lens ring of the primary and depth cameras. Called the Dual Orbit Lights, they can be used for aesthetic purposes or as notification lights for calls and messages. Oppo states two hours of shining in breathing mode will only consume 1% of battery life.
Upfront, there is a 16MP camera nestled in a punch-hole cut out for selfies. Taking advantage of the camera setup are shooting modes like Bokeh Flare Portrait, Selfie HDR, AI Colour Portrait, AI Scene Enhancement and Dual-Video mode to name a few. These modes have been trickled down from the Reno 7 and Reno 7 Pro.
As the name suggests, there is a 5G modem for a high-speed mobile data connection. Besides that, you also get 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC. Unlocking the phone will be easy thanks to an in-display fingerprint sensor. There is also a single, bottom-firing speaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack for your audio needs. Lastly, you don’t have to worry about accidental splashes as the Reno 7 Z 5G is rated for IPX4 water resistance.
Oppo has packed the Reno 7 Z 5G with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 33W SuperVOOC fast charging. Expect to fully charge the device in around 63 minutes with the included 33W charger. Out of the box, the phone will come with ColorOS 12 running on top of Android 11.
