During CES 2022, plenty of new products were launched but one new device in particular caught my eye—the Asus ROG Flow Z13. Dubbed as the ‘world’s most powerful gaming tablet’, it packs some of the best silicon possible in such a small chassis, and if you need even more performance you could even get it with an external GPU too. For gamers on the go, it’s certainly an interesting proposition, and luckily for Malaysians Asus have just announced its arrival here in Malaysia.
Asus ROG Flow Z13 Malaysia pricing and availability
There will be three models of the Asus ROG Flow Z13 launching in Malaysia, and two of those won’t be coming with the Asus ROG XG Mobile external GPU housing an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080. Those are already available for purchase in Malaysia, while the ROG Flow Z13 bundled with the eGPU will only be available from April 2022 onwards.

Asus ROG Flow Z13 specs
From the outset, the Asus ROG Flow Z13 does kinda seem like a Microsoft Surface Pro but with gamer-y aesthetics instead. You can think of it like a pretty powerful Windows gaming tablet, with a detachable full sized RGB-backlit keyboard and a 170° kick stand. The tablet’s display measures 13.4-inches diagonally in a 16:10 aspect ratio, and you can choose between a WUXGA IPS panel with a 120Hz refresh rate or a 4K IPS panel at 60Hz. Both are touchscreen displays with Adaptive-Sync, cover 100% of the sRGB gamut and have 500nits of brightness.
Under the hood, it packs perhaps the best silicon you can reasonably put inside a chassis that’s just 1.2cm thick. The base model features an Intel Core i7-12700H, with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 512GB SSD. As for graphics, there’s an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM. The other two models meanwhile come with an Intel Core i9-12900H, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. There’s a more powerful RTX 3050 Ti too in these higher spec versions, though the GPUs of all three models are limited to just a 40W TGP. You’ll find a MUX switch too with lets you cut off the integrated graphics, and instead get the discrete graphics’ full power. Cooling all of this is a vapour chamber cooling solution with liquid metal that Asus says will keep it quiet even under full load.
If you’re really planning to sit down and play the latest video games with the ROG Flow Z13, getting the top spec model will come with a bundled ROG XG Mobile eGPU too. This packs an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 with 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM and a TGP of 150W. Powering all of this is an included 280W power supply just for the eGPU. The ROG XG Mobile doubles as a USB-C hub too, with an SD card reader slot, a HDMI 2.0b port, a DisplayPort 1.4 port, an Ethernet port, and four USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports.
Going back to the ROG Flow Z13, it has a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos and Smart Amplifier technology, along with a built-in 3-mic array. Powering it is a 56Whr battery that charges via a 100W USB-C charger that weighs just 300g, with Asus saying that you’ll be able to charge your ROG Flow Z13 to 50% in just 30 minutes. Meanwhile, you’ll also find a 8MP camera and a 720p HD webcam on the ROG Flow Z13.
Other features of note include a fingerprint scanner and support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. As for I/O, there’s a USB-A 2.0 power, a Thunderbolt 4 port, a microSD card slot, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, a 3.5mm combo audio jack and a ROG XG Mobile interface port to connect your eGPU. The ROG Flow Z13 comes with Windows 11 out of the box, and you’ll also get two years of warranty for it.
With just this one device, Asus says that there’s infinite ways to play with it and it’s really quite easy to see why. You can just use it as a tablet if you want something to watch content with, and if you need to do some work simply plug in the keyboard. You don’t even really need the eGPU as the RTX 3050 Ti is enough for some light gaming too, but of course the ROG XG Mobile eGPU is an option if you really want to play the latest and greatest titles.
