After introducing its flagship Galaxy S22 series, Samsung Malaysia is about to launch its new Galaxy A series. This is Samsung’s new mid-range smartphone lineup and the launch event is happening this week.
How to watch Samsung Galaxy A 2022 launch live in Malaysia?
The Samsung Galaxy A event is happening at 10pm Malaysian time on Thursday, 17th March 2022. You can watch the event live on Samsung Malaysia’s Facebook page.
According to the official invite, the Galaxy A is Samsung’s most popular smartphone category and it leads the democratisation of Galaxy innovations to give people the power to create, connect and thrive. For 2022, Samsung promises to take the Galaxy innovations for the Galaxy A series even further and it is designed to provide a fully-loaded experience that people want from a smartphone.
Over the years, Samsung has been adding more “flagship” features to the Galaxy A lineup. Samsung brought back water-resistance to the Galaxy A52 and A72, and they also offer high screen refresh rates as high as 120Hz on an AMOLED panel. The devices also feature Samsung Pay, a feature that allows you to make contactless card payments via NFC.
What to expect from the Samsung Galaxy A53 and A73?
Ahead of the launch event, we’ve already seen a couple of leaks of the Samsung Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A73. As revealed by Roland Quandt of WinFuture, the new Galaxy A53 looks identical to last year’s Galaxy A52 but it gets some subtle design tweaks. Instead of using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series processor, the A53 is expected to run on an Exynos 1200 chip which is Samsung’s latest mid-range chip.
The device will still feature a 6.5″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that can push a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and while the onboard storage is still expandable via microSD card. The new model appears to retain a similar quad-camera setup which includes a 64MP main camera with OIS. Interestingly, the device will get a significant battery bump up to 5,000mAh.
For the larger Galaxy A73, 91mobiles reveals that it is essentially a larger A53 with no significant design changes. It still has a 6.7″ Full HD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and a similar camera setup as the A53. However, a recent benchmark has indicated that the Galaxy A73 will get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chip which is currently powering the Galaxy A52s 5G.
Besides ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack, it appears that Samsung will no longer provide an in-box charger for the new Galaxy A lineup. A recent unboxing video of the Galaxy A53 5G reveals a flat box that comes only with a phone and a USB-C cable. Based on what we’ve seen with the Samsung Galaxy S22 launch, we reckon there’s a possibility that Samsung Malaysia could offer a free power adapter as part of its pre-order promo.
We reckon that Samsung Malaysia will start pre-orders shortly after the global event. Stay tuned to us for more details.
