Celcom has introduced the Xpax Postpaid 40 and 60 plans which replace the XP Lite Postpaid plans from 1st March 2022. It looks like Celcom is ditching the customisable element of the old plan with a simplified two-plan option. The new Xpax postpaid plans offer more data than before while retaining “unlimited” data for popular social apps.

The cheapest postpaid option from Celcom right now is the Xpax Postpaid 40 which offers 10GB of high-speed data and unlimited calls to all networks in Malaysia. It also gets “unlimited” YouTube, Facebook and Instagram that are capped at 3Mbps. If you need more data, the higher Xpax Postpaid 60 option provides 20GB of high-speed data and unlimited calls, plus “unlimited” YouTube, Facebook and Instagram that gets a higher speed cap of 6Mbps.

According to the FAQ, the “unlimited” data for YouTube, Facebook and Instagram comes with a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) of 150GB/month, which is about four times the average monthly data consumption per user on their network. Once you’ve hit your FUP, speeds will be reduced to 1.5Mbps for the next 100GB before it gets reduced further to 512kbps.

With the 3Mbps speed cap for the RM40 plan, Celcom says you can get SD 480p streaming while the higher 6Mbps speed on the RM60 plan offers video streaming in higher HD 720p quality. SMS is not included in the plan and is charged at 20 sen per message.

Overall, the new plan offering offers more data than before. On the older XP Lite + M Pass, which costs RM38/month, you’re only getting 8GB of data while the L Pass (RM58/month) provides 16GB of data. In summary, you are getting 2GB to 4GB of extra high-speed internet by switching to the newer plans which costs RM2 extra. The only difference is that the new plans no longer offer the free 1-hour Ultra Hour Pass daily, and unlimited WhatsApp and WeChat.

If you’re an existing XP Lite Postpaid customer, you can still remain on their current plan. To switch to the newer Xpax postpaid, you can perform a “Change of Rate Plan” on the Celcom eStore. Customers who port-in to Xpax Postpaid 60 from another telco can also get a RM30 rebate (RM5 x 6 months). For more info, you can check out the Xpax postpaid page.
