Carsome opens ASEAN’s largest car refurbishment facility in Klang

Carsome has opened a 185,000 square feet car refurbishment facility in Malaysia called Carsome Certified Lab. Located in Bukit Raja, Klang, it is the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia with the capacity to refurbish 2,000 cars every month. Carsome currently offers customers a selection of over 1,000 refurbished cars from 30 brands including national, Japanese, and Continental makes.

To be considered for the refurbishment process, Carsome will conduct a 175-point inspection on used cars on their platform to find ones that are free from major accident, frame, flood or fire damage. The inspection also covers the chassis, undercarriage, engine, gearbox, electrical system, and interior to mention a few. A test drive of the car is also conducted to determine its operating well. Once the car passes this inspection, it is labelled as a Carsome Certified vehicle and will undergo the refurbishment process. The full report is available on the car’s product page.

As part of the refurbishment process, the car will go through three major sections – mechanical and general repairs, body and paint, and detailing.

Mechanical and general repairs include items like lubricant replacement, brake servicing and electronic servicing. In the body and paint section, any dents will be removed and the car will receive a fresh coat of paint. Finally, the process ends with a detailed car wash and interior cleaning.

According to Carsome, the cars are handled by experienced technical specialists who follow a global safety standard. Thus, the cars that roll off the factory floor are safe, comfortable and “look as good as new.” Carsome says interested customers can log on to their website to view a 360-degree image of these “looks as good as new” cars. However, at the moment, it is not an interactive 360-degree where you can pan around the car. Rather, it’s more like images covering 360 degrees of the car.

Carsome says their cars come with a one-year warranty, five-day money-back guarantee, and fixed price with no hidden fees. They also advertise quick purchases with minimal paperwork and home-delivery options.

The company has stated plans to open more facilities across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand in the next 12 months. However, it is unknown if they will all share the same size as the current facility in Klang.

“Carsome Certified exists to give consumers the options of pre-owned cars that are superior. All our cars go through world-class refurbishment at Carsome Certified Lab, so that our customers can choose their dream car from our largest selection of best-in-class, quality-assured cars. This is our continuous effort in eliminating consumer and industry pain points,” said Carsome Certified CEO, Mei Han.

Those are some very bold claims, but at the moment we can’t verify them as the facility just started operations, so we’ll have to wait for their customer feedback.

To browse the more than 1,000 refurbished Carsome Certified vehicles, you can head over to carsome.my.

If you do end up purchasing your “dream car” from Carsome Certified Lab, we really would like to hear about your buying experience.
