In addition, Oppo is also having brand store exclusive privileges such as 50% off for Oppo Watch Free and Oppo Enco Air 2, and a free Reno 7 tote bag.
Oppo Reno 7 Pro
The Oppo Reno 7 Pro is the higher-spec device of the two and it gets a more industrial-looking flat edge design. It features a 6.55″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that boasts a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it runs on a flagship-class 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 1200-MAX processor that’s mated to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. If you need more RAM, you can expand up to 7GB extra with the RAM Expansion feature.
The Reno 7 Pro also gets a triple-camera setup that includes a 50MP Sony IMX766 1/1.56″ main camera which is similar to the one that’s found on the Oppo Find X3 Pro. There’s also an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro shooter. Meanwhile, the tiny punch-hole on the top-left corner of the screen houses a 32MP Sony IMX709 selfie shooter.
Powering the device is a 4,500mAh battery which supports Oppo’s 65W SuperVOOC Fast charging via USB-C. According to Oppo, you can get a 100% charge in just 31 minutes. Besides high-speed 5G connectivity, it supports WiFi 6, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.2. Out of the box, it runs on Android 11 with ColorOS 12 skin on top.
Oppo Reno 7
Meanwhile, the Oppo Reno 7 is their more affordable and “compact” alternative which comes with a 6.4″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that also pushes a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it gets a 6nm MediaTek Dimensity 900 which previously powered last year’s Reno 6. The device is mated to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage which is expandable via a microSD card.
The Oppo Reno 7 also gets a triple-camera setup featuring a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2MP macro lens. Similar to the Reno 7 Pro, it also gets a 32MP selfie camera that sits in a punch-hole.
The Reno 7 also gets a 4,500mAh battery which supports 65W SuperVOOC fast charging via USB-C. It also supports 5G, WiFi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and it still retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. Similar to the Pro model, it runs on Android 11 with ColorOS 12 skin on top.
For the RM1,999 asking price, you can definitely find better value flagship devices from Xiaomi and even Samsung. The latest Reno 7 looks like a refreshed Reno 6 as it retains a similar display, processor, and cameras, but it offers double the storage and a slightly larger battery.
At least for the Reno 7 Pro, you’re getting a flagship-class processor and camera. If you’re looking for Oppo’s new flagship smartphone, the Oppo Find X5 series is launching on the 24th of February 2022 and they will also introduce its first-ever tablet called the Oppo Pad.
