Besides the upcoming Oppo Find X5 series, Oppo is also launching its first-ever tablet that’s called the Oppo Pad. The Chinese smartphone maker has revealed several images of the Oppo Pad which include its key hardware specs and accessories.

Oppo Pad

The Oppo Pad will be launched on the 24th February 2022 at 7pm (Malaysia/China time). As seen here, it comes with your typical slab design with flat edges and the screen comes with symmetrical bezels all around. As shown in their promo images, the tablet comes in black and light purple. The rear gets a fancy design with random OPPO letters at the top which somewhat looks inspired by the Honor 50‘s Honor Code variant. The rear gets a single camera and thankfully, there is no notch on the display.

Oppo Pad with Pencil

Like most Android tablets that try to mimic the iPad, the tablet also supports an Oppo Pencil stylus. The Pencil looks somewhat similar to the 2nd gen Apple Pencil as it has flat edges and it can be charged wirelessly when attached to the tablet via magnets.

Oppo Pad Taobao price

According to the Taobao page, the Oppo Pad is running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor and it gets a 120Hz refresh rate display. It has been speculated that the tablet uses an LCD panel and it pushes a 2.5K resolution. Powering the device is an 8,360mAh battery which is quite a decent capacity. For a “computer-replacement” setup, the Oppo Pad can be attached to a keyboard accessory which also doubles as a case.

Out of the box, it runs on ColorOS for Pad which hopefully offers more multi-tasking features than your standard Android operating system. There’s no pricing at the moment, so you’ll have to wait until Thursday for the full details.

Overall, this looks like a new contender to the likes of the Xiaomi Pad 5 which was launched locally for RM1,399. The biggest challenge Oppo has to overcome is the limitation of Android which doesn’t seem to offer an all-rounded optimised tablet experience and long-term software support. The iPad is still the go-to tablet and it is quite tough to recommend anything else if you have a budget of RM1,500 or more.
