During the Malaysian launch of the Redmi Note 11 series, Xiaomi Malaysia has also announced its Mi 2K Gaming Monitor 27″. The flat panel gaming monitor boasts a high 165Hz refresh rate and it has a rotating stand that supports portrait mode.
The Mi 2K Gaming Monitor 27″ is officially priced at RM1,699 in Malaysia. However, there are no available details yet and Xiaomi will provide further updates on their official Facebook page. If you search online, you can already find grey import units on sale for as low as RM1,399.
In terms of specs, the Mi 2K Gaming Monitor 27″ uses an IPS panel that offers a Quad HD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, a contrast ratio of 1000:1, and 178° viewing angle. The monitor boasts 95% DCI-P3 gamut, 100% sRGB gamut and a maximum brightness of 400cd/m2 with HDR on. Xiaomi added that each Mi 2K Gaming Monitor 27″ has been colour calibrated to the standard of △E < 2 to deliver accurate and true-to-life colours out of the box.
The monitor has a response time of 1ms with IMBC and 4ms GTG (Grey to Grey). According to the fine print, IMBC is an Intelligent Motion Blur Control technology that uses software algorithm with hardware to reduce motion blur. It explained the brightness may vary slightly when IMBC is enabled, and it does 1ms for 165Hz and 2ms for 144Hz.
The gaming monitor is also VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified and it also has Adaptive-Sync technology to prevent screen tearing and lag, for a smoother visual experience while gaming.
The gaming monitor comes with a stand that not only offers adjustable height and tilt, but also the ability to rotate the screen to portrait mode. The monitor can also support wall mounting as well. The rear also gets hidden vents behind the stand which helps with heat dissipation.
In terms of ports, it has 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x DP 1.4, 1x USB-in, 2x USB 3.0, 1x Audio port and 1x AC in for power. The two USB 3.0 ports (5V 2A) and headphone jack are exposed at the back for easy access, while the other ports are hidden behind a magnetic back cover.
Besides the Mi 2K Gaming Monitor 27″, there are other similar options that are going for about the same price. This includes the Asus TUF VG27AQ gaming monitor with a 27″ Quad HD IPS panel and a 165Hz refresh rate for RM1,605. LG also has a 27″ IPS Quad HD gaming monitor that offers a higher 180Hz refresh rate for RM1,778.
If you’re looking for a larger curved gaming monitor from Xiaomi, there’s the Mi Curved Gaming Monitor 34″ that was launched for RM1,999. It offers a WQHD resolution of 3440×1440 pixels in a 21:9 aspect ratio and a refresh rate of 144Hz. These days you can easily find one for less than RM1,600.
