Samsung chose Kuala Lumpur and four other cities in the world for its 3D tiger billboard ad campaign

If you’ve visited Pavilion KL very recently, you might have noticed a wild new 3D billboard ad of a feisty tiger on the outside of the mall. Well, it’s all thanks to Samsung‘s “Tiger In The City” campaign to help get ready for Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2022. Kuala Lumpur is amongst five cities in the world chosen to showcase the ad.

Besides Kuala Lumpur, the other four cities to showcase the billboard of the tiger are New York, London, Dubai, and Seoul. The ad shows a 3D tiger bursting through digital barriers—and Samsung says that it aims to showcase how “Samsung’s next smartphone lineup is set to help users own the night with new advancements to its low-light smartphone photography technology”.

“By channeling the image of the tiger, Samsung is also embracing its own innovative past following over a decade of refusing to play it safe and driving the mobile innovations that shape our world,” said Samsung.

The campaign also sets the tone for the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event—happening on 9 February 2022. This time’s Unpacked event will be the unveiling of the latest Galaxy S22 series—and it is taking place at 11pm (Malaysian time). Besides the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung is also expected to reveal its new Galaxy Tab S8 series.

The tiger billboard ad in Pavilion isn’t the first 3D ad to wow Malaysians. There was previously a golden bull billboard ad last year to celebrate Chinese New Year. Samsung’s campaign this year also fits the Chinese New Year theme—but this time with the Year of the Tiger.

If you’d like to see the 3D billboard for yourself, you can go to Pavilion Elite, Kuala Lumpur from now until 9 February. The golden bull ad last year pulled quite a crowd, so this one might be a popular attraction as well.
