Returning to the Klang Valley? North-South Expressway users are advised to start their journey before 9am

If you’re travelling back to the Klang Valley over the weekend, PLUS is advising all users of the North-South Highway to enter the highway before 9am. The Travel Time Advisory is applicable to users coming from northern and southern states between 4th to 6th February 2022.

According to PLUS, they have recorded an increased traffic trend on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year (2nd February) with a surge of traffic from all states. A similar pattern is expected to be repeated this Saturday and Sunday (5th to 6th February) as those who took extended days off will be making their journey back to the Klang Valley.

All highway users are advised to ensure sufficient balance for their Touch ‘n Go card, or Touch ‘n Go eWallet for RFID users. To ensure a comfortable return journey, PLUS has deployed additional PLUSRonda teams to assist users who may encounter problems with their vehicles. PLUS has also collaborated with Traffic Police (PDRM) and Road Transport Department (JPJ) for enforcement along the highway and they have also arranged RELA teams to facilitate traffic management at toll plazas and rest areas.

Users are also recommended to use navigation apps such as Waze and Google Maps to pre-emptively plan their route to avoid traffic congestion along the highway. If you’re taking a break at R&Rs and lay-bys, you are reminded to adhere to the COVID-19 SOPs.

PLUS users are urged to enter and exit the highway using the same payment lanes. RFID users that enter the highway must also exit via the RFID lane to avoid penalty charges. In case you didn’t know, RFID lanes are meant only for RFID-tagged vehicles and it does not support SmartTAG. With the recent mass rollout of RFID lanes throughout the North-South Expressway, all users should take note of the lane changes when entering and exiting the highway.
