WhatsApp will soon allow you to listen to voice messages while in another chat

A few months ago, WhatsApp was working on enhancing its voice recording feature by allowing you to pause your voice recordings. Then, they started rolling out a better control bar for videos. The latest development is a feature that will change how voice messages work in WhatsApp.

Currently, voice messages stop playing if you leave the chat it was sent in. According to WABetainfo, our source for the previous WhatsApp stories, WhatsApp is working on a global voice message player. This means that you will be able to listen to your friend’s long voice messages while being in a different chat. For the busy multitaskers out there, you’re probably appreciate this feature.

The voice player will be located at the top of the screen, with a grey progress bar indicating how much of the voice message is left. There is a play and pause button on the left and there will be a cancel button on the right.

Sadly, this feature has not been released to the public yet, however, it has been rolling out to some WhatsApp iOS beta testers. Android WhatsApp beta testers will have to wait until it gets out of its development stage.

It is unclear whether or not the audio would still play if you exit the app, but that would be an interesting addition to the feature.
