The Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia launched SAVE 3.0, a follow up initiative to SAVE 2.0 that was announced last year. SAVE 3.0 builds upon SAVE 2.0 by introducing an extra category, called Category 2. Category 2 includes RM200 (TV or Washing Machine), RM100 (Microwave) and RM50 (Rice Cooker).
Do note that if you have claimed Category 1 during SAVE 2.0, you will not be able to claim it in SAVE 3.0. You will only be able to claim the voucher in Category 2
As for the RM500 voucher for flood victims, it is also provided by SEDA under the Program Bantuan Banjir Keluarga Malaysia : Pembelian Peralatan Elektrik Domestik. For this program, there is no info if it is split into categories like SAVE 3.0, so it looks like you can make a lump sum claim of RM500.
Do note that if you are eligible for both vouchers, you cannot combine the vouchers together and will need to perform separate transaction. According to the FAQ for the Flood Relief Voucher, the shop will guide you through the process.
Who is eligible?
SAVE 3.0
Since SAVE 3.0 is adding upon SAVE 2.0, a lot of the terms and conditions are carried forward, with some additional ones added for SAVE 3.0. These are:
- Malaysian citizen
- Users / owners of registered electrical account (domestic) in electrical utility companies such as TNB, Sabah electricity Sdn. Bhd. (SESB), Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) dan Nur Power Sdn. Bhd
- Redemption for two (2) categories: 1. Category 1 – refrigerator or air conditioner; and 2. Category 2 – television or washing machine or microwave oven or rice cooker.
- 1 electricity bill account only eligible to apply 1 e-rebate for each category & first come, first served basis.
- Recipients of eRebate for the SAVE 2.0 program are not eligible to apply for category 1 of SAVE 3.0 program
Program Bantuan Banjir Keluarga Malaysia
To check if you’re eligible, you can visit SEDA’s micro site.
Alternatively, you can head over to any SEDA approved retailers, physical or online, to request for them to check on your behalf. You will need to provided them your NRIC number and electric bill.
Where to claim SAVE 3.0 & Program Bantuan Banjir Keluarga Malaysia vouchers?
The SAVE 3.0 and Program Bantuan Banjir Keluarga Malaysia vouchers can be redeemed at registered physical stores and eCommerce partners. The following steps applies to both vouchers.
Physical store
You will first need to check the stores registered with SEDA.
For SAVE 3.0, bring along your electrical bill and NRIC.
For Program Bantuan Banjir Keluarga Malaysia, on top of the electrical bill and NRIC, you will also need to present an original copy of one of the following documents proving that you were affected by the flood:
- Police Report
- NADMA
- District Officer
- Letter of support from the community leader (JKKK, JMB / JMC, Residents Association, etc.)
- Government agencies involved in the coordination of flood relief
The retailer will assist to check if you are eligible and apply for both eRebates on your behalf. Then, just apply your voucher and purchase your appliances.
Online Store
The SAVE 3.0 rebate and Program Bantuan Banjir Keluarga Malaysia rebate can be redeemed via Lazada and Shopee. Although Lazada does not advertise the Program Bantuan Banjir Keluarga Malaysia voucher on their site as of writing, they are listed as an eCommerce partner on SEDA’s website.
Below are the steps for the respective platforms. Do note that you will require the same documents as for the physical store in order to claim your voucher. You will be required to send pictures of the documents to the seller. The seller will then verify the documents and provided a voucher code for you to apply during checkout.
Don’t worry about these steps as the sellers have been informed by SEDA to guide you through the whole process.
