MSI introduced a series of new laptops during their MSIology: Gameverse virtual event which premiered on 5th of January. The laptops showcased are aimed at gamers and content creators and come packed with the latest hardware that current silicon tech has to offer.
12th Gen Intel Processors
Kicking things off, these shiny new laptops are powered by Intel’s brand spanking new 12th Gen Intel Core H series processors or better known to the PC community as Alder Lake. Built on Intel’s new 10 nm Enhanced SuperFin process or Intel 7 process, the CPU is designed with a hybrid architecture that consists of Performance cores and Efficiency cores. This allows the CPU to assign heavy tasks like gaming and creative apps to the P-cores while lighter tasks like web browsing and music apps are assigned to the E-cores. This ensures that you always get the best performance and efficiency possible.
DDR5 – 4800 RAM
To keep with the speedy processor, MSI is also equipping select models with DDR5 – 4800 MHz RAM. Compared to DDR4, you can expect to see up to 28% improvement in read speeds and up to 27% improvement in write speeds. DDR5 RAM is still new in the market and to see MSI offering its customers DDR5 RAM is amazing.
Nvidia RTX 3000 series GPU
Moving on, carrying the weight of graphic processing is Nvidia’s mighty RTX 3000 series GPUs. Select models can be specified with either up to a RTX 3070 Ti and for the first time in a laptop, up to an RTX 3080 Ti. Regardless of which model you choose, you will be getting Nvidia’s revolutionary Ampere architecture, with 2nd generation RT Cores for ray tracing and 3rd generation Tensor Cores for DLSS and AI.
MSI’s Phase Change Liquid Metal Pad
Finally, on select gaming models, MSI is replacing the thermal paste with their own Phase Change Liquid Metal Pad. How this works is above 58 degrees Celsius, the Phase Change Liquid Metal Pad melts and fills the space between the CPU and thermal block. According to the laws of thermodynamics, phase changes absorb an enormous amount of heat, thus transferring heat more efficiently. So, the Phase Change Liquid Metal Pad provides the performance of a liquid metal without the risks of short circuits.
Meta Ready
Therefore, it is easy to see why MSI is certifying all these new laptops to be Meta ready and will be able to provide the performance needed to provide a smooth and seamless experience for users in the Metaverse.
I’m sure all these specifications and features have piqued your interest, so let’s find out about the laptops that will be housing these advanced hardware.
