Vivo launches the selfie-focused V23e and V23e 5G with 50MP selfie camera, starting at RM1,399

Vivo has launched a pair of new midrange devices for Malaysians. Dubbed the Vivo V23e and V23e 5G, they both have a lot in common with a few choice differences, and are targeted towards those who love to get a selfie or two from time to time.

Pricing and availability

The Vivo V23e and Vivo V23e 5G are now available for pre-order until the 17th of December. You’ll be able to do so on the Vivo Official eStore as well as their official store on Shopee and Lazada. Alternatively, it will also be available for pre-order from their physical Vivo Concept Stores around the country. The Vivo 23e and Vivo V23e 5G are priced as follows:

  • Vivo V23e, MediaTek Helio G96, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage – RM1,399
  • Vivo V23e 5G, MediaTek Dimensity 810, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage – RM1,599

Furthermore, those who do pre-order Vivo’s new devices will get a bunch of freebies too. If you pre-order the V23e 5G from their online stores, you’ll get an automatic soap dispenser gift box, a 1-year extended warranty and a 1-year screen crack protection worth a total of RM518. Meanwhile, if you pre-order the V23e 5G from their Vivo Concept Store, you’ll get a portable Bluetooth speaker with an LED alarm clock, a tumbler, a 1-month premium membership card for VIU TV, a 1-year extended warranty and 1-year screen crack protection worth a total of RM559.

Those who pre-order the V23e from a Vivo Concept Store will instead get a backpack, 1-year extended warranty and 1-year screen crack protection worth RM459. Any pre-order of either devices on their eStore meanwhile will also get a chance to addon the Vivo TWS 2 series wireless earbuds at a 50% discount.

Vivo V23e and V23e 5G specs

Right off the bat, you’ll probably notice that both the Vivo V23e and V23e 5G look extremely similar with their 172g, glass back chassis. Both come with a 6.44-inch, FHD+ AMOLED display though there isn’t any fancy high refresh rate on show here. They also come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but use different system-on-chips. The 4G-only Vivo V23e has a MediaTek Helio G96 underneath, while the Vivo V23e 5G has a MediaTek Dimensity 810, allowing the latter device 5G connectivity and slightly more performance too.

While both devices are marketed with their cameras in mind, there are actually more differences between the two in the imaging department. The Vivo V23e has a triple rear camera setup, with a 64MP, f/1.79 main camera flanked by an 8MP, f/2.2 wide-angle shooter and a 2MP, f/2.4 macro lens. On the front of the device meanwhile is a 50MP, f/2.0 selfie camera tucked away in notch. As for the Vivo V23e 5G, it seems to get an ever so slightly weaker camera setup, with its selfie camera reduced to a 44MP, f/2.0 shooter while its triple rear camera setup now gets a 50MP, f/1.8 main camera instead.

Elsewhere, the similarities continue; both devices come with an under-display fingerprint sensor and a measly 4,050mAh battery with 44W fast charging via USB-C. They come in two colourways, namely Moonlight Shadow and Sunshine Coast. For more information about the Vivo V23e and V23e 5G, you can check out their product pages on the Vivo Malaysia website.
