Asus Malaysia continues to expand its OLED laptop lineup barely a month after launching its new Vivobook series with OLED panels. This time they have announced its ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED which is described as the world’s first 16″ 4K OLED HDR laptop.
The ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED comes with two AMD and one Intel option. Below is the official pricing in Malaysia:
At the time of writing, the ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED is still not listed on its official store on Shopee.
Targetting professional creators, the ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED packs a large 16″ OLED panel in a 16:10 aspect ratio with a peak brightness of up to 550 nits. In Malaysia, the AMD variants are equipped with a 4K panel that does 3840×2400 pixels resolution while the Intel version gets a 2K panel with a 2560×1600 pixels resolution. The exterior features a stealthy Star Black matte finish with an anti-fingerprint nano-coating. Asus claims that the coating provides the laptop a premium silky feel and it allows water to be wiped off easily. For greater durability, the StudioBook 16 OLED has been tested to fulfill MIL-STD 810H military standards.
The AMD models run on a Ryzen 9 5900HX processor with a choice of Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 or RTX 3070 graphics. For the base model, it gets 32GB of RAM while the higher-spec option gets 64GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the Intel version gets an 11th gen Core i7-11800H processor with Nvidia GeForce RTX3060 graphics and 32GB of RAM. All three models get 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD storage as standard.
The laptop gets a backlit chiclet keyboard with a Numpad and you’ll also get a 3-button touchpad that supports 1024 pressure levels for stylus support. For a more productive workflow, the Studiobook 16 OLED also features a physical rotary controller called the Asus Dial. This can be used for navigation, zoom, brush control, layer switching and various controls for supported apps such as Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop Lightroom Classic.
Asus has also equipped the ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED with a generous array of ports so you probably won’t ever need a dongle. It has two USB 3.2 Gen 2 (USB-A) ports, one USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, one Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) port, Gigabit LAN port, HDMI 2.1 port, SD Express 7.0 card reader, and a headphone jack. Interestingly, only the Intel version supports 802.11ax WiFi 6 while the AMD versions settle for 802.11ac WiFi 5.
Also included is a fingerprint sensor integrated on the power key and it has an IR webcam that supports Windows Hello. In the audio department, the Studiobook 16 OLED gets twin speakers enhanced by Harman Kardon and DTS. There’s also a 4-mic array with AI Noise-cancelling technology, which is useful for conference calls during the new normal.
According to the spec-sheet, the StudioBook 16 OLED weighs 2.40kg and is 2.14cm thick at the thickest point. It comes with a 90WHr 4-cell Lithium-Ion battery but unfortunately, Asus did not provide any battery life figures. Out of the box, it runs on Windows 11 Home and Asus Malaysia is providing 3-months complimentary subscription to the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
