COVID-19 vaccine update: How to apply for vaccine exemption certificate, Malaysia to buy Molnupiravir to treat COVID-19

In the latest COVID-19 vaccine Update, we talk about Sinovac getting the green light to vaccinate teens aged 12 to 17 years old and Malaysia is procuring Merck’s Molnupiravir, an anti-viral drug to treat COVID-19 cases. Also, is it true that several teens have died after taking the vaccine? This and more in the latest video.

Pfizer isn’t the only vaccine that has received conditional approval for teen vaccination as Sinovac has recently gotten the green light for teens from health authorities. Sinovac will be prioritised for teens who have allergies or can’t get vaccinated with Pfizer.

Ahead of the administration of booster shots for high-risk groups, Malaysia has given approval to mix-and-match COVID-19 vaccines for the third dose. The Ministry of Health has granted approval to Pfizer for a booster shot and it is permitted only for adults 6 months after their second dose.

If you can’t get vaccinated due to health reasons, you can now apply for a vaccine exemption certificate for MySejahtera. However, you will need to submit a pre-vaccination assessment letter that’s certified by a medical professional.

For individuals who have gotten fully vaccinated overseas, it is now easier to apply for a local digital vaccine certificate via MySejahtera. Just submit proof of vaccination in the app and the vaccine certificate will be issued after verification.

As the National Immunisation Programme is now focusing on teen vaccination, there are individuals spreading rumours that several teens have died after vaccination. The Ministry of Health has debunked the claims as fake news and the purported teens who have died have not yet received a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
