WhatsApp is currently working on a feature for iOS that lets you pause your voice message recordings. Right now, users are only able to preview the message, delete it, or send it, but with the new feature, you would be able to resume your recording after you pause it.
In terms of UI, the feature would simply replace the ‘cancel’ button with a red ‘stop’ button. If you’re the type to send a lot of voice messages, then you would find this quite useful as you would not have to spam your friends with voice messages anymore.
Unfortunately, this feature is not available for the public yet. Even public beta testers don’t have access to it, although the blog WABetaInfo got their hands on the feature and posted a video of it working.
WhatsApp has been trying their best to improve the voice message function. It’s not something that everyone uses, but I would imagine that it would be useful for the visually impaired or people who simply do not like to text.
Recently, WhatsApp also announced that they are working on a feature that allows you to listen to voice messages even when you leave the conversation page. This is something that Telegram is already offering, but WhatsApp is still developing it with no plans on releasing to beta testers anytime soon.
