Technics is a Japanese brand focusing on audio equipment. They have been honing their craft for high-quality audio products for 56 years and have finally debuted themselves in the Malaysian market with two premium TWS earbuds: EAH-AZ60 and EAH-AZ40. Both of these models feature Technic’s proprietary JustMyVoice Technology, which isolates and amplifies your voice while suppressing the background noise.
Many TWS earbuds focus only on the quality of what you hear, but rarely focus on how you will sound through the microphones. The sound quality of your voice is incredibly important, but is unfortunately often overlooked. Technics really made ‘sounding good’ a highlight feature, which makes these earbuds unique.
If you’re currently working from home in a busy household, then you probably know the struggle of having your meetings disturbed by unwanted noises. Technics saw this common problem and made the EAH-AZ60 and EAH-AZ40 earbuds so you can have your conferences without any distractions.
There are two models on offer, so let’s break down which model is right for you.
The EAH-AZ60 is the more feature-packed model out of the two, having both noise-cancellation and a bigger driver.
Acoustics-wise, the EAH-AZ60 has solid features and specs for its price. The buds have 8mm drivers, which is enough to deliver a rich sound, and can wirelessly play 96 kHz/24 bit LDAC. This allows for the playback of higher quality audio files compared to AAC or MP3 codecs normally used in TWS earbuds.
To capture your voice, the earbuds use a total of eight individual microphones as well as its JustMyVoice Technology to isolate and amplify your voice. The physical design of the buds also consist of holes that help with wind reduction, one of the biggest culprits in TWS audio input.
The microphones also help to provide noise cancelling so you can immerse yourself in music or stay focused on your work.
One of the most interesting features of these earbuds is Attention Mode. Alongside the noise cancelling and natural ambient modes that are in a lot of other TWS earbuds, the EAH-AZ60 and EAH-AZ40 also have Attention Mode, which is specifically designed for you to be able to hear voices from your surroundings. Most people using ambient mode are only looking out for voices anyway, so Attention Mode is extremely practical and useful for if you need to hear airport announcements, for example.
There are also other convenient features like multi-device Bluetooth pairing, customisation on the Technics Audio Connect App, voice assistant support, and IPX4 Water Resistance.
In terms of battery life, the EAH-AZ60 can get you 25 hours of playback with noise cancelling on and 24 hours of playback with noise cancelling off. The earbuds also come with quick charging capabilities, getting you 70 minutes of playback with only 15 minutes of charging.
If you’re looking for a more affordable option, then you should consider the EAH-AZ40. It has many of the same premium features as the EAH-AZ60, but has slightly smaller drivers and does not have a noise cancellation feature.
The EAH-AZ40 has 6mm drivers as well as the same acoustic chamber design as the EAH-AZ60, providing a similar sound profile.
For calls, this model will still capture your voice clearly with its 6 individual microphones and wind noise reduction. It also features the same JustMyVoice Technology that boosts your voice and lowers the background noise at the same time.
These earbuds also include both Natural Ambient Mode and Attention Mode, allowing you to hear important things from the background. You can tweak these modes through the Technics Audio Connect App as well.
Features like multi-device Bluetooth pairing, voice assistant support, and IPX4 Water Resistance are still included in the EAH-AZ40, regardless of its lower price.
The battery life for the EAH-AZ40 is virtually identical to the other model, giving you 25 hours of playback if you use the charging case. You can also use quick charge and get 90 minutes of playback with just 15 minutes of charging time.
The EAH-AZ60 is currently going for RM1,049 and you can pre-order it on Lazada or Shopee.
The EAH-AZ40 on the other hand is going for RM649, and you can pre-order it on Lazada or Shopee.
You can find out more about the products on the Technics website.
If you pre-order either model from 30th Sep till 15th Oct, you can get a free Limited Marble Plate Set! While stocks last.
