Missed your AstraZeneca second dose appointment in the Klang Valley? You can walk in before 4th October

The special committee on ensuring access to COVID-19 vaccine supply (JKJAV) has announced that all vaccination centres for AstraZeneca in the Klang Valley will shut down on the 4th of October 2021. For individuals who have gotten the AstraZeneca vaccine but missed their second dose appointments, they are urged to walk in to get their second dose.

In the Klang Valley, there are a total of 4 vaccination centres that are administering the AstraZeneca vaccine. This includes World Trade Centre and Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in Bangi and Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam.

In case you missed it, Malaysia has announced that it will be shortening the vaccine dose interval for AstraZeneca from 9 to 6 weeks effective 1st October 2021. According to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, the decision was made to provide convenience to individuals that have gotten their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Among the vaccines administered under the National Immunisation Programme, AstraZeneca has the longest dose interval between the first and second dose. As a comparison, Sinovac and Pfizer have a shorter 3-week interval between the two doses. An individual who has received a two-dose vaccine is only considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving the second dose.

Walk-in for other vaccines available until 30th September

For Malaysians residing in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor who have yet to get the COVID-19 jab, walk-in vacinations have been extended until 30th September 2021. This is only applicable at 5 vaccination centres as listed above.
