The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE was supposed to launch around this quarter and even its manual has been leaked online. Now it looks like Samsung will not continue to launch its new Fan Edition smartphone and it has something to do with its Galaxy Z Flip 3.

According to a Korean report, the Galaxy S21 FE which was originally scheduled to launch in October has been cancelled due to supply chain issues and chip shortages. The new affordable flagship smartphone was expected to run on a Snapdragon 888 chip with the option for an Exynos processor for selected variants in different markets.

It is said that due to the strong demand for the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung is struggling to keep up with demand and it makes more sense to focus their production capacity and chip supply on their new popular foldable smartphone. If Samsung were to continue with the Galaxy S1 FE, it would affect the production for both Galaxy Z Flip 3 and also the Z Fold 3, which obviously make more money.

Based on what we know so far, the Galaxy S21 FE was supposed to come with a 6.5″ AMOLED display that pushes a 120Hz refresh. Similar to the Galaxy S20 FE, the device was supposed to offer fan favourite features of the Galaxy S21 series at a more affordable price point. For the new S21 FE model, it appears to be lacking a microSD card slot and the power adapter will not be included.

If you don’t mind last year’s model, the Galaxy S20 FE LTE 128GB is currently going for RM1,899 while the 5G version with 256GB storage is going for RM2,499.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is currently Samsung’s most affordable foldable device priced from RM3,999 while the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is now slightly more affordable with a starting price of RM6,699. Due to popular demand, if you pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold 3 from Samsung Malaysia, you will only receive the device starting from 5th November.
