Nokia might not be the same household brand that they used to be a couple of decades ago, but that doesn’t mean that they’re no longer around. In fact, if their recent tweet is to be believed, they’re teasing a new tablet of some sort too.
The brand’s owners HMD Global seems set to join the club of Android smartphone manufacturers making an Android tablet. In their teaser picture, they have a lineup of their devices such as the Nokia feature phones as well as a few of their smartphones, but at the very end if a box that’s quite a bit bigger than the devices on show. Nokia is also perhaps hinting at a release date—the 6th of October.
This wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve heard rumours of an upcoming Nokia tablet. Back in late July, there were reports of a Nokia tablet getting certification from Russian authorities, with the tablet itself being called the Nokia T20, with the T-series moniker presumably referring to tablet in this case.
Furthermore, some of its specs were also leaked. The Nokia T20 allegedly came with a 10.36-inch display and had 4GB of RAM mated to 64GB of internal storage. There were two models on offer too, with one being a WiFi-only variant while the other has support for 4G. It’ll come in a blue colourway and will be priced at £154(~RM880.54) for the WiFi-only tablet while the 4G model will cost £168(~RM960.58).
Of course, it goes without saying that these remain just rumours for now. However, a Nokia-branded tablet would be a fairly interesting direction for HMD Global. Though it doesn’t seem to be the most bang-for-buck tablet like the Xiaomi Pad 5, Nokia’s excellent record of providing software updates might make it a solid choice still for anyone needing an Android tablet out there. We will however have to wait till October to find out.
