iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 now available in Malaysia. Here’s how to download

Before the latest iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro goes on sale in Malaysia, Apple has pushed its new iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 update to all compatible devices. The new update brings a host of new features including spatial audio for FaceTime, tweaks for Photos, Safari, Photos, Weather, Maps and notifications, as well as new privacy protection features.

How to download iOS 15/iPadOS 15 on your iPhone and iPad?

Before you proceed with iOS 15 update, you are encouraged to perform a full backup just in case if anything goes wrong mid-way. This can be done via iCloud or with a Mac or Windows computer via iTunes.

If you haven’t gotten any update notifications yet, you can download iOS 15 by going into your iPhone or iPad’s Settings > General > Software Update. If you recently updated your device to iOS 14.8, you should see the message “Your iPhone software is up to date”. If you look down, there’s a new option “Upgrade to iOS 15” Click on that and proceed to click on “Download and Install“.

The update for iOS 15 is more than 3GB in size so make sure you have sufficient free storage and download when you’re connected to WiFi. The update may not allow you to proceed if your battery level is low, so do ensure that you have sufficient charge.

Compatible devices

iOS 15 shares the same compatibility with iOS 14. This means if your current iPhone or iPad can be updated to iOS 14, it should run on iOS 15 as well. This includes the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus that were launched in 2015 as well as the 1st gen iPhone SE from 2016. It will also support the 7th gen iPod Touch.

The iPadOS 15 supports the iPad Air 2, a device that was released with iOS 8.1 out of the box. This marks its 7th major OS update since the device was introduced in 2014. It is also compatible with iPad mini 4 and above as well as 5th gen iPad and above. All iPad Pro options from the first-gen are supported as well.
